After a bad streak like that, I've taken a couple of days away from golf just to try to forget the bad swing habits (there is such a thing as bad muscle memory) I might have picked up...then I play, but I hit a very small bucket before the round to get loose.

Now that's funny!

Yoga and stretching poses (with correct form) really helps my flexibility in my core and shoulder turn...even breathing properly in yoga helps translates to less tension in my swing. I've just started taking yoga classes (6 months ago) and some of the most improvement I've seen is in my balance through the swing. I'd recommend it along with boxing classes for cardio...

What Ball is your favourite?
AMGfan replied to BigDog's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Thanks...I loved the old Professional too. Other than the ProV1...the Taylormade Red is a good premium ball...it's about 4$-5$ less than the new ProV1. The ProV1 is my mainstay for it's length and feel for me. However, the quality of balls out there at different price points is really great for any swing out there. -
I couldn't stand what I shot yesterday and played this afternoon... 79 - 41/38 Putted much better...I cut out the dreaded 3putts from yesterday. I had a bad double on the my second par 5 on the front...drove through the fairway on the par 5 and went into the water, then on the next shot I hit into creek in front the green...other than that the round was good. I'm hitting the crap out of the TM R7 Superquad...I love this driver! It's long, workable left/right/low/high...

Can you elaborate? Is the V1 too hard...has less spin...too expensive...not workable...etc...? -
83 - 42/41 Terrible day of putting and chipping...I must have left 4 strokes out on the course. Driving was good and everything else average. It was just one of those days that I had no feel or my putting eye...go figure.

If I was collecting them, thank God my wife wouldn't know their value...Do you have them setup in a certain way in your house? That would be cool...

Keep at it and have fun...

I keep my cell on silent and only answer the phone if my wife or work texts 911 on the cell...I don't think that is superstition, though. I just lose focus if I get phone calls on the course...

Every new course I go to, I get a logo polo shirt. I've got buddies that collect logo balls, bag tags, logo tees, scorecards, etc...

+1 on the what the guys have said above...I try to take more club, keep the bal middle to back of my stance, and just not finish high to keep the ball low and "punch" it. Once you get the hang of the low finish and the yardages you will find it great tool for scoring... It takes some range time but with a 7HC you should be able to figure it out.

Drives - "low and slow" irons - "swing through and finish" putts - "finish to the hole"

Damn right...I had my butt handed to me a couple years ago by a guy 70yrs old. All he did was hit it straight and his short game was a gem. His drive was no more than 230 yds (STRAIGHT)...I outdrove him 40 yds everytime, but he was hitting from the short grass vs. my ball being in the woods or in the water. Accuracy (esp. in your mid iron and wedges) not length will get your score lower...oh don't forget putting!
-
First off...are you hitting it consistently straight? It doesn't matter how far you hit it if it does't go where you want. I can hit a 6i about 185yds but that is if I'm swinging at max speed and my margin for error increases dramatically. So I pull the 6i out if I have 165 to 170 yds and I can usually hit it straight without busting a nut. I've used a 6 iron for 140yd shot when there was wind in my face and/or if the green was elevated... There are other factors to ask too...shaft type (steel/graphite), shaft flex, swing speed, etc...that might help give us some insight.

I'd say it is just as long, but I'm still partial to the ProV1.

PLUS the wives have the kids...

You got to clarify for me..."tour issued" is that like the R7 460 vs. R7 TP 460?

I've worn them when I go casual on the course (t-shirt and shorts) and only at my local muni. The attire leans toward VERY casual. I like them and the Footjoy versions are really comfortable...it just a change of pace but only appropriate only at certain courses...

with Taylormade Red ball today...I bought a sleeve at the course today and I really liked the ball...long and long. I prefer ProV1 around the greens, but still a very good premium ball.

I played after work and shot 81 (41/40). The back nine was packed, so I played the front twice, but played from the blue tees on my second 9. Hit the driver so much better on the back, but screwed up on a par 3 (206yd) and doubled. Basically, I choked and shanked one in the water. I kept thinking swing thru the ball and finish the swing, but I just rushed the swing and hit the ground first and shankilicious time. PS...It's amazing how much free swinging I was at the tips...most of the danger I couldn't reach with the driver... Stogie - Partagas Maduro (maximo)

I was partial to the Scorpions and Yngvie Malmsteen (spelling?)...You aren't the only one...damn I still remember going AND paying to see air bands at the local armory! I've got old Freestyle from the eighties and some Tito Nieves (salsa) mixed in with some Chris Botti on my nanopod.

To be honest with you, I've smoked about 4 real cuban cigars myself (2 in Canada and 2 in the Carribean). They were good but the Dominican cigars seemed just as good of a stick to me...maybe my palate isn't refined enough to know the difference yet. I just picked up a grab bag of single sticks at my local smoke shop just to broaden my cigar horizon: Ashton Maduro (robusto) Partagas 1845 Limited Reserve (cifuente) Monticristo Natural (robusto) H Upman 1844 Cameroon Corona #5 Macanudo Vintage 2000 CAO Mx2 Maduro I'm having a poker/smoker/draft watch BBQ saturday, while the wifeys spend our $$$ at the outlet mall...AND golf in the morning...lifes good!

Saturday - 7am (2hr15m) - twosome Par 70 - 41/35 Front nine I only made 2 drives and 2 subsequent pull hooks...2 double bogeys. The other two bogies were just bad club decisions that left me in two bunkers. Back nine I just kept thinking low and slow on my backswing and my drives straightened out and all was well. My mid to high iron approaches were very consistent just by taking one more club and hitting @ 80% swing speed. I ended up with 3 birdies and 3 bogies on the back nine. Putting was average front and back. Stogie - H Uppman Signature
