  2. Congrats, glad to hear everything worked out for the best! My wife's official due date for our first is tomorrow, 2/19. I tried to get as much golf in as possible over the past 2 weeks, as I'm sure my free time will be reduced very soon. I'm tempted to go hit 'em today, if not for the rain, oh and my wife being full term. Congrats again and good luck!
  3. Got the Callaway UproGo, 2 dozen Noodles, and a new ball marker for my divot tool, what a good wife! I talked to my brother on the phone, his wife got him a set of Diablo Edge Irons 3/4hybrid 5-pw. He didn't even hint to her that he wanted new clubs!
  4. Well to be fair to my argument, you do have Titleist clubs in your bag, But I can see your point of wearing a thoughtful gift. For me, I would buy a windbreaker, golf shirt, golf shoes, because of the fit/material over the brand. But a hat, with a big advertisement for an equipment manufacturer across the front of it would be purchased for an allegiance to that brand, but again, that's just me. As for my playing partner, he has an obvious, extreme, loyalty to Taylormade in his golf equipment, it strikes me as odd that he wouldn't follow that loyalty onto his head when he goes hat shopping. Now it doesn't bother me so much that I would stop playing golf with him though!
  5. My regular playing partner wears 2 different Titleist hats, but his entire setup is Taylormade, I mean everything, from driver through putter, to bag, to towel. He doesn't even play Titleist balls, WTF!!?
  6. Where do I send my entry for the Round with the Hound contest?!
  7. I can hit full swing shots with the Niblick, i guess you wouldn't do that with the putter style chippers out there. But I still feel like the niblick is in, or pretty close to that chipper category.
  8. I definately go push cart over carry or riding. I like the push cart because I don't feel any shoulder/back fatigue, and I can load up my bag with rain gear, snacks, maybe a gatorade/beer or two, and not be affected by the added weight. Plus if I have all my own refreshements on board, I can wave the beer girls off and avoid her taunts and ridicule of push cart use! And if does start raining, the umbrella on the cart works like a charm to stay dry between shots. I did start with a pull cart, which I found annoying, but switching to the push cart made a huge diffenence in comfort/manuverability. I'm hoping a Upro Go will be under the christmas tree this year, which the push cart will also readily accept, instead of in my pocket or clipped to bag if I carried.
  9. I carry a Niblick, and I do pull it from the bag several times per round. I could use my 8 iron, but I have gotten very used to the Niblick, and has the same black pearl color and grip as my 56 wedge, which I use all the time 75 yards and in, so the consistent look brings a confidence boost. Plus (and probably the biggest reason), I really like if for a cruddy lie that could be a bit rocky underneath, I would rather beat up/replace my Niblick then have to replace an 8 iron out of my set.
  10. My driver and fairway woods match, I like them to have similar shafts. Irons and hybrids match because they came as a set, and for consistent gapping. And my wedges always match. Plus,if I have a few brands in the bag, it gives me a much bigger selection of hats to choose from in the pro shop!
  11. I dropped the hint for a uPro Go to the wife, so my fingers are crossed.
  12. Par also seems necassary for the purpose of handicapping. I'm not picturing a way to handicap without par and slope. Par is usually good enough to put you in contention for the US Open too.
  13. Frogger ball towel, worked really well for my first round with it. I've never had a black golf hat, but I figured winter time would be the best season to wear one.
  14. My hometown was about 50 miles from NYC, which added alot to the cost of insuring a new driver. At least thats what my parent's insurance agent told us 17 years ago.
  15. About 1 round a week, and 1 additional trip/week to the course to work on the short game. Work full time in outside sales (sometimes I can sneak a round in during the week, shhhhh!) Don't work in the industry, but I check the golf manufacturers' websites all the time looking for Territory Manager openings. Year round golf in Sacramento, we are just coming into great golf weather.
  16. My first car I miss the most, certainly not because it was the nicest vehicle I've ever owned, but the majority of my best driving memories were made in that POS! And I learned how to drive a 5-speed in it. Cost me $600 cash, and and about $1600/year for liability insurance.
  17. http://scoregolf.com/blog/rick-young...olf-to-be-sold The latest I'm hearing on Yes! is a sale of the company, but operations will continue. All according to interview from link above.
  18. I have the Yes! Golf Tiffany center shaft, and have been very happy with it for the past year+
  19. When your buddy hits a worm burner or skys one, but still ends up in the fairway, and he is bummed, I will remind him to: "Never belittle a ball in the middle!"
  20. My DVR stopped recording after the push on 18. Did they play another hole, or have a chip off? I always love to see pro's play skins, the lighter atmosphere, rooting for each other to halve the hole, taunting, etc. Almost like when I play skins with my buddies, except with us, bogies win the skins alot of the time!
  21. Would you shrug your shoulders or say big whoop to stealing a sleeve of Pro V1s from the pro shop? Because that's worth around $15 to the course also.
  22. That's stealing.
  23. That's stealing.
  24. Hello New to the forum here. I am in outside sales, and travel Northern California, and most of the Northwest for work. Sometimes I get to bring the clubs, always a great trip when I do. Look forward to participating in the discoussions at thesandtrap.
  25. Last year I switched from a Cobra iron set 3-PW to a Mizuno MX-100 4-GW, with the 4 and 5 in the Mizuno being hybrids. This change shaved at least a few points off my handicap. I would at least try hitting a few sets that include hybrids for the longer irons, they are game-changers! MX-100 sets on ebay for under $350
