Just pick up a fairly used set and take care of it while using it; avoid playing shots that you know could leave dings or dents on the clubs, avoid submerging them in water, clean them with a moist towel and dry them right away, try when cleaning to clean the club face only, try not to get water inside the pocket on the back side of the head because these dry harder and might cause rust on the long run, and do not use iron head covers.

Why would you say not to use headcovers?

Headcovers keep moisture on the club and cause rust. I think it's more of a problem with forged irons (like almost all Mizunos) than cast (like most others).

So these clubs are ok for a 20 handicap?? Im thinking they are, but I have no way of hitting them...

These clubs are great and durable. I've owned these for about 2 years and I submerge mine in the club cleaner every time I take a shot. Dry it off with a towel and put my HEAD cover back on. YES, I use head covers. They do help protect from dings and nicks on the clubs, especially forged. No rust, just clean clubs.

And for god's sake, irons head covers look STUPID!

My forged irons have rust showing up on the face of the club, what should I do? Forged heads are made of mild carbon steel that is chrome plated. Once you start hitting golf balls, you scratch the surface of the chrome and eventually expose the raw steel to moisture, and chemicals that can cause rust to form. The best way to minimize rust is to keep the irons dry at all times, wipe them after every shot and at the end of the round with a dry cloth. When cleaning, use only a NYLON brush (no metal) and dry them with a dry towel. If you get some rust forming, spray the surface with WD-40, clean with a soft nylon brush or Scotchbrite pad and wipe them clean with a dry cloth. Some high nitrogen fertilizers, sandy soil conditions and water with high iron content can accelerate the production of rust. The use of iron head covers is not recommended as they trap moisture and accelerate the production of rust.
