Hey guys, I need some help. I'v been playing golf for about 2 years now. I am down to a 12ish handicap. My ball striking is pretty good, but my misses are fat or left. I hit behind the ball and lose distance once and a while. The other thing i am working on is taking a divot, which i currently don't.

I noticed in the video that i take the club to far side ways on the backswing and that my backswing is very long. I can't feel either one of these things and cannot seem to fix them. Are there any drills to fix this? And if you see anything else i should fix, i would appreciate it. Thanks.

You immediately take the club back inside and compensate on the downswing by coming over the top. There are a few tips I have for you:

1. Try to take the club straight back (imagine a straight line behind the ball)

2. Put a small towel (dish) under your left arm and make a swing with it. You will see that if you swing over the top on the downswing, the towel will fall to the ground. The idea is to keep your left arm tight to your chest ensuring that you are on the right swing plane (the pros do this drill all the time).

I have a simple drill for controlling the length of your take away...

Imagine a clock, with your club at 6 o'clock at address.  Take it back normally, still look at the ball, and stop when it feels like your club is at 9 o'clock, then look and see where it ended up.  Try 10 o'clock, 11 o'clock and 12 o'clock the same way.  Continue this until your feel for where the club is, is the same as where your club actually is.
