Hello Everyone,

I've been reading this forum for around a month now and have found some useful stuff which has really helped me. I first hit a Golf Ball on the 20th December while on holiday in Dubai and since then I've been hooked, I'm completely new to Golf and couldn't even tell you anything about the rules or players etc. so please bear with my ignorance.

As I said, I've only started recently and I'm still a little unsure as to what the hell I'm doing but all I know is I sure love hearing that sound and seeing that ball soar when I hit it right and that's what I want to see more often! I've always been fairly sporty and pretty quick to pick up new talents and skills however I'm preparing myself for a long slog of at least 12 months before I get anywhere near respectable.

At the moment I've got myself a set of Callaway Diablo Irons and I'm trying to get to a fairly good standard with them before I start to touch anything else, although it is very difficult to resist the lure of the Drivers but I guess that's a Macho thing! I'm currently hitting a 6 iron around 160 yards when I connect truly however that is perhaps one in 5 shots, with 2 out of 5 hitting around the 140-150 mark and then the last 2 disappearing or rolling into no mans land!

Anyway I'm sure that's enough for now and I look forward to gleaming as much instruction from you guys as possible

Regards

Dave

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
    • Day 8 (Jun 8 26) - Stayed the drill but added two additional irons (7i, 8i and 9i) - using Divot Board and hard foam balls - focused on tempo and purposed pause at the top….noticing how open the club is marking the board when I try to kill it and how much more square (and better distance) when I focus on these keys.
