Stores will be different but getting fitted certainly wouldn't force you to buy the product. What you might find is that some places will charge you the fitting fee regardless of whether you buy them or not. So you will be adding $30-60 on top of the price of the product if you buy and if you don't you will have to pay that fee anyway as well.
Other places will charge you that fitting fee if you don't buy but will not charge you if you then buy the product and spend over a certain amount.
Call up your fitter and find out which they do.
Also you might find that some places will let you hit the clubs on a simulator for no charge to see if you like them. The fitters in these places won't be as knowledgeable as pros and you're more than likely going to get a sales pitch to push you in one direction to buy the most expensive option, rather than the one you actually need. If you just want to test a few club though its not a bad option, just don't use it as a real fitting.
