Serial Number

I am buying clubs off ebay, and wondering if all clubs should have serial numbers.
I have bid on a titleist 907 D1 and a 906.F2, and was wondering where I should find the serial number, and how it prooves that it is a real club?

The registration number is usually on the hosel - and to verify it's authentic you may need to contact Titleist. If it doesn't have a registration number be wary - especially with the high end stuff.

This is the advice i've seen on the Ping site for people interested in purchasing 2nd hand clubs. I have never gone this far when buying off eBay - generally the sellers are trustworthy...

Always be cautious though...

Well, I think this guy should be trustworthy he has 414 100% positive feedback.

It just seems weird that he has sold a titleist fairway wood to almost every person...

when i bought my driver - the seller had sold 100's of the same too

the reason was he got a shipment of them from Taylormade which were slightly off (a scratch or a dent etc) - they were returned to the factory from the retail outlets, still in packaging etc. Generally if they have 100% positives and are selling all the same item it's a pretty safe bet.

oh and it has "NO WARRANTY" engraved just below the registration number meaning the company won't help you out if anything goes wrong (however, i did get a warranty from the seller)

I have also seen clubs that are "defects" - the weight in them is a little off. They sell for cheaper but for me - it's not worth it.

They can be genuine clubs but not quite 100%.

I bought my driver off ebay, it has the # engraved on the hosel, after buying I registered it on Titleist's website, and it proceeded without a problem. The one I purchased was a demo club (it has Demo stamped on the grip where titleist normally is) and got it for just over $200 unhit.

On a side note, I previously bought a Callaway that was indeed counterfeit, it had a seriel number, in the correct spot but when I tried to register it, it came back that this number did not exist. It also had one noticeable difference in the face. I had bought a couple other clubs before, but from people with more positive feedback, I was excited to get this particular club and didn't pay that much attention and got burned for it.

I would check pictures (there should be pictures of the actual club) with either actual clubs or pictures directly from the manufacturer, a small difference means it ain't legit. Also you could ask the seller for the serial number or for him to guarentee authenticity.

Go to Titleists website:

www.titleist.com There is a drop down in the upper right hand corner that says my account, if you don't have an account I think you will have to create one. I click on edit account and on the right there is options for several things including product registration. I have my driver, 3W, and Vokey registered. Hope this helps!
