Hey guys. Has anyone compared these two fairway woods? I was back and Golfsmith again yesterday hitting balls on the launch monitor and they both felt pretty good, but I was just wondering what everyone else thought?

I am a 6.9 index with a driver swing speed of around 95 mph. I was thinking I would get the X fairway wood to match the driver (I know, no logical reason for that), but I hit a few shots with the G10 and it felt pretty good as well.

I like a heavier feeling club (the Hyper X is a D5), and the X fairway wood is a D2 (as opposed to the G10, which is a D1). I would most likely get regular flex in either club.

Let me know what you think.

I was in your same spot about a month ago. I had a callaway x 3wood. I loved it off the tee but I could never get it off the deck. So I was going to florida earlier this month for a golf trip, and went and tried the g10 3 wood, so I bought it with the pro launch red shaft, and it was significantly better than my callaway. So I am very happy with the Ping.

I know when I posted the same question a while back others stated they could not hit the callaway off the deck either.

Not sure if my post helps you at all, other than a vote for the ping

That helps a lot. Just curious, was your X the 2007 version or the 2008 version? Also, was it the X hot? I've heard the X Hot is tough to hit off the fairway because it's too big. Also, the new X (the 2008 model) is supposed to be a nice improvement over last year's version.

Mine was not the X hot, just the x version. I got mine just as the x hot's where coming out last year, so I am not sure if it was an 06 or 07 to be honest. But it was the model that was just before the x hot

    • Day 130: Cinco de Mayo Day 7/24 of Full Speed Spectrum training. Difficult training day after struggling to certify my warmup yesterday, and today. Finished 13 mph lower than my training speed on Thursday. Hope to hit some balls today.
    • Yeah, I think I misread that part. I read "in front of" and kinda skipped the rest.
    • We just completed our winter league (Jan 1 - April 30)  Our scoring was simple.  We used the 18 birdies app.  You get 1 point for every member of the league you beat head to head in an 18 hole round (no handicap).  You also get a point for completing the round.  Therefore 4 members play a round- winner of the round gets 4 points, runner-up gets 3, third gets 2, and last gets 1.  Points accumulate throughout the season.  You can play as many times as you want. Our winner accumulated 110 points while second was 102 and third was 97.  We had a total of 16 members in the league.  No issues whatsoever.  All about fun.
