So I’m having a bit of an issue. I have hit on the range 2 days in a row now. The first day I broke my 6-iron from a clean contact ball, maybe just a bit heavy. The next day at the range, same exact thing with my 7-iron. I’ve been swinging these clubs for a while and never had a problem, but after being in the weight room a bit and practicing more, I can feel my club head speed climbing. The shafts in my irons are stiff, is it possible that I need a higher or lower flex and that’s the problem? Or is it just a weird thing that I caught both of those swings a little chunky and the shafts happened to break? Thanks for the help!

Welcome to The Sand Trap. How old are the irons? Where was the break?

    • Interesting changes. The idea of relegation and promotion have always been there in a different form (getting and losing your card etc and qualifying for bigger events) but it looks like they want to define it better for top tier events. The Tour has always had A and B level events (and even lower). It will be interesting what they choose as the Challenger Series events and whether some tournaments go to the Challenger Series that used to be prestigious. Not sure how the networks will take to this knowing they have “Challenger” Series events defined that way now. Also, I’m not happy that John Henry and Theo Epstein are involved. Look what Henry has done to the Red Sox.

    • I have been debating getting a launch monitor of some sort, if only so I can re-figure my shot zones (I haven't actually mapped them in years) and also to practice distance wedges at home.  I have to see if this works with either my current setup, or what my setup would be if I move it to the garage.
    • Day 48, June 23.  After work today, I took 25 minutes in my practice room;  6-iron, same everything as yesterday except the time and count.
