Good morning! Currently I am using my brother's set Ping Si3 driver/ King Cobra Speed ld 3 wood and Nickent 3dx ironwood. Cleveland wedges and the rest is Ben Hogan Apex plus (3) with graphite shaft. Its ALL his left over clubs in his basement .

I am looking to get a new set for myself... and I am looking at Adams Idea A3 boxer Set with graphite shaft. Any comments on Adams for high handicapper like me.

Thanks

Bruce

Its really all about feel. Whatever feels the best for you I would suggest you get.

For the first set that I bought, I went with my dad to a local pro shop and probably hit every club in the store before I could make a decision. First set I got was the 02 model of the Big Berthas. Very easy to hit club. Cavity Backs are great for forgivness, so I would suggest something along those lines.

Anything other than that is really up to personal preference, whether it be look, feel, etc. Try em' all and see what you like. I have heard nothing but good things about Adams though.

Good luck with your decesion.

Do you have graphite or steel shafts? My problem is the graphite shafts are a little too whippy in the short irons for me. I was going to sell them but I'll probably just have the short irons re-shafted.

They're expensive but the Mizuno MX-950's are extremely forgiving. And they're forged.

    • Current state of the program.  I can only do 25-50% swing speed, probably under 50% since I was hitting the ball out to the 150 yard marker (yay!),  to get the arms down and somewhat turn the body through impact. I mean somewhat. Arms down + body turn don't like to mesh at all. Anything faster and the body does stupid uncoordinated stuff. Mostly, I am stuck in the old pattern of staling the turn and flipping at the ball.  So, until I see progress. I am not posting anything here.
    • Thanks for the video! Do you think a ball between the arms type of training aid would get me in a better position? I also have a Tour Striker Swing Trainer (PlaneMate-like contraption) if that could be helpful.
    • There are some little things here and there — the shoulder turn is a bit flat, and the arms move around you a bit too much too. Take a look at this video:
    • I've developed a serious case of the shanks and difficult to control push fades/slices with my irons lately. I used to draw my irons pretty consistently. I currently most draw driver. Also, I don't like how my elbow sometimes pops out from down the line, especially with driver and/or if I'm trying to hit it harder. I can control the elbow a lot better with irons, but quite difficult to have good contact and speed while controling it on driver.
