Iron shafts...ugh

Well, my irons are standard, and i think they need reshafted, i need to practically bend down to ground the club.

So,

A) do shafts i buy at golf smith come longer than standard? can i buy them longer tahn standard? or must i custom order them?

B)any recmendations? i am thinking something in the project X, or rifle catagory, like these, tho im not sure what a, "tap" is, http://www.golfsmith.com/products/RIT6.0

And, does anyone know what the Titleist 775 measurment is?

any other advice is aprreciated.

Also must be around 150, pref. less, as i also must re grip.

I think you really need to hit a launch monitor. I did this a few month back, comparing what I play now (DG R300) with DG S300, Black gold S, Project X 5.0 & Project X 6.0. My average swing was 80 MPR with all the shaft but the Project X 5.0 which was 75??? The irons I hit were Callaway X-forged and X-20 6 irons. The longest shaft with the best trajectory was the Project X 5.0 flighted. I hit it on average 20 yards longer than any of the other which really blew me away...it was such a dramatic difference. I ordered them right away. I'm guessing that the flighted shaft will cure my low trajectory with long irons.

If you just need them lengthened, then go to your local shop and have the clubfitter extend them for you, much cheaper then reshafting your clubs, they will also have to regrip them also. They will probably fit you to the proper length and then add the appropriate extension to your shafts.

Just for reference about the length of Golfsmith shafts.

When you buy a shaft from Golfsmith they use a program that has all the shafts that will work for the head you have. All the shafts come in a pre-cut length that are then cut to fit.

I'm 99% sure you wouldn't have to worry about buying a longer shaft... I think they can just not cut them down so far.

Then again I've only talked to the guy about it, I've never actually cut a shaft before... so wait for someone to either verify or correct me
