Can someone please explain to me the science behind re-shafting a club? I have the TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad with the65g Stiff ReAX Shaft, and then I have the TaylorMade forged TB/MB irons with the x100 stiff steel shafts. I keep on reading about project 5.5 and 6.0, then 45g shafts that make you swing faster. Im just very confused on the topic and how to go about finding out (a) more about them and (b) if switching shafts would help. Any insight would be great!

You should not reshaft the driver--the REAX is one of the best shafts out there. As for project x--they are overrated anyways. If they were soo much better than regular steel shafts everyone on tour would switch to them.

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

It is a matter of choice and feel. I suggest that you go to each respective website. Concentrate on things like:

1) Torque 2) Weight 3) Kick point Then, go find a reputable fitter, not a store, and set up an appointment. Tell him the make of irons and driver you have and the shafts that interest you. He should be able to set these up for you and you can test them on a launch monitor. Once there, look for these things: 1)Launch Angle 2)Ball Speed 3)Spin Rate He will be able to make a solid recommendation with your input. He or she can also adjust your clubs to your playing style. Hope this helps.

Two things I forgot. From this, you should get a ball recommendation and grip type and placement. They both will improve on your playing ability.

      This is an awesome breakdown. most of the bigger tournaments usually have one wave with the advantage, Thank you for the breakdown. If it is soft then it will be a lower final score

      Over the past 15 years, the winning score has ranged from -10 to -20. Mostly around -13.  Here is Thursday and Friday weather. Saturday and Sunday weather. I think the course will play soft. Plenty of sky cover, lots of rain on Thursday. Fairways and greens will probably stay soft throughout the week.  In terms of tee times, I think Thursday morning and Friday afternoon have the biggest advantage.       Things that I am or have worked on... 1.    Trail Elbow - Check 2.    Hip Turn - Check 3.    Rolled Inside - Check 4.    Wide Takeaway - Check 5.    Sway and Tilt - Nope, but I did a hip turn and tilt 🤣 I am giving myself 4.5/5 for my long backswing.  Great post!

      We have a very difficult but mostly showy course this week. Lets see what they got. This course offers so many chances to get into trouble it is really a mental minefield. I am excited to see who can handle it and who cant. Last year we got a foreshadowing of JJ and Rory, I am excited for this year Who do people have winning? what will the winning score be? I am thinking 12 or 13 under
