And my own preferences are for the Rife barbados, and the BC3 Mizuno Bettinardi. Both of these to me suit my eye at address, and the BC3 has an amazing feel. But really, I honestly believe that what you BELIEVE in will be the best putter for you - and you gotta' practice as well!

If there was a "best" don't you think the pros would all be using it???

Zebra........anyone remember those. I loved mine.

I remembere the zebra mallet putters. I never could afford on in the 1980's so I bought the bullet .444 and still have it and use it. Love the oversized grip.

I really like mallets, too.

I do like having a couple of putters to use....it keeps things fresh and maintains my focus while putting.

The putter I really want is a Red X 3. My wife told me to wait until my birthday next month and see what happens then.

Couldn't wait that long.....I happened to be in a golfs tore this morning waiting on the rain to pass so I could get a round in on a nearby course. While there I found a heavily discounted Detour 1 that I traded some old clubs in on.

The putter works pretty good for me. It's certainly a keeper. The only downside is the shear size of the bright orange headcover coming out of my bag. Looks like I have a manhole cover under it.

You can really work a nice flowing stroke with this wand.

I headed over to the course and jumped up to the first tee and let it fly. No time on the practice green. Throughout the round the putter did very well....two putted most every hole.

First Scotty....perhaps more to come later. I do have the satisfaction of knowing that it'll retain it's value if I ever decide to sell it.

Googled for Zebra putters to see what may be available. There was a link to Ram Golf....home of the new Zebra putters. They looked to be some fierce mallets. Another Zebra style that I've seen recently is one of the Yes putters. That putter sets up very much like the old Zebras. Very sharp wand. It may seriously rekindle some old flames.

I have been using Anser style putters ever since I started playing golf and putting has been a strong point of my game. But I always wondered if I could putt better with a mallet. So I went to my club's golf shop and hit a bunch of different mallets on a real practice green looking for the one that seemed to offer to the best alignment aide, best feel, and best results.

That mallet, to my chagrin, was the TaylorMade Rossa Monza Spider. I thought the putter was just plain crazy looking. But I could not argue with the results.

I have played with it for 5 rounds now and a couple of hours on the practice green. I have to say that I am making more long putts than ever. I still don't have the distance control down like I did with my Anser putter. But I am quite close there. From inside 10 feet the putter is much better than my Anser. Overall, I am putting better with the mallet and I expect to get even better as I get used to it.

The Rossa Monza Spider isn't so crazy looking any more!!

So, unless there is some unexpected change, the Anser putter is second string....

    • Day 29 (9 Dec 25) - PW dink and rolls as well as low flighted chips.  Dink and rolls - set up with club head toe down/heel up to promote low flight, plenty of roll out.  Low flighted pitches - club flat on the ground to get ball up a Rick more and check more.   No more than 10yds total distance - focus on getting the ball to finish near (within 10’ dia circle) the target “pin”…

    • Only ever used ShipSticks and never had a problem. It's really nice because you can ship to anywhere not just courses.  No matter what you use, I take the extra care of the clubs and wrap them in something before putting them in your bag and into the shipping box.
    • Practicing my putting after work. I put five balls on the carpet and a mug on the other side. Once I make 3 out of 5 I can stop. If I leave any short or they go to far and fall off the rug, I restart.  Focusing on speed and hitting my mark 3 inches in front of me. Trying to gain consistency and discipline in all aspects of my putting game.
