I've been Playing Golf for: 3 years after retirement, lots before college
My current handicap index or average score is: 18 from the appropriate senior tees
My typical ball flight is: fade
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: 67 y/o, flexibility is my main issue preventing length. Know my swing is compact/short and my instructor is having me work with what I've got and having me concentrate on improving lag and not coming over the top. Asking me to keep right elbow close to hip on downswing to help me use my hips/body and not arms. My driver swing speed is barely 80, and average driving distance is probably 175. If I nail one I can get it a little past 200 but that's about it. Would like to improve distance by 20-30 yards if I can but want to keep it in the fairway rather than overswing. If I emphasize trying to get a fuller turn I tend to lose balance and get too many mishits. Any thoughts are appreciated, especially on ways to get more distance without a full backswing. Some older guys I've played with have also had short backswings but are outhitting me by 40-50 yards sometimes and I'm not able to see what they're doing, other than somehow getting more club speed.
