I do not currently use one but have in the past.

pros : great feel, distance control, quality steel, very good looking, good alignment aid, rolls true of the face.
cons - very soft steel gets nicks and dings that glare and distract in the sun, won't help you in off center hits, glare is an issue, tends to jump of the clubface..

Although I listed more pros than cons, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. It has a great feel and touch, and It gives me the confidence to sink every putt. Its finesse is definately most apparent in the shorter putts, although performs admirably on lag putts. The GSS insert(I assume you are talking about the original red x) gives it simply amazing feel without taking from distance control. It mutes some vibrations, but you can still tell when you hit it; great click sound when compared to the mushy inserts of odyssey and ping. The ball does come fast off the clubface, and sometimes when I thinki leave putts short they actually go in. But thats probably because my last putter was just a straight steel type of deal. All in all, a great putter. The only reason I don't use it is because I like the anser style better. Luckily , there was one with the same insert ;).

I use the Red-X2. Best putter for me.

Distance control and line are dead on.

Haven't noticed the "glare" issue - but I'm in the Pacific NW. Sun, what sun?

I have a Red-X2 and really like it. I use it when I play slower greens because I find it more forgiving than my NP2.

Don't get one way over priced since it is the new model. Pick up the newsport for half the price and same feel and distace control.

If you're in the market for a Red X, a Newport isn't exactly a valid suggestion.

my point is buy a older model save money. You must be sponsered by titleist since you have been bashing all my comments all day.

Actually, the Red X (and X2) is an older model. The Red X3 and Red X5 are the current models. BTW, "Newports" exist in both old and new models too.

And though I don't recall "bashing" any of your comments or even responding to very many, I do tend to respond when someone tries to pass off bad information or opinion as you've done here.

    • The first issue Erik spoke about is something we worked on for my swing during both GEARS sessions. GEARS was showing my pelvis center moving towards the ball during the back swing. I wasn’t the 4” guy though! This forced me to correct on the downswing to give myself space. My hip rotation was to high as well. We corrected it by first getting the weight off my heels in my stance and getting my posture correct. Then the feel was shifting back into my right hip at a 45 degree angle. This kept my pelvis center from moving towards the ball at the start of the backswing. I also didn’t sway back as much as I felt I did because of the angle I was shifting. Feel Ain’t Real. The cool thing about GEARS is as you work on something you can see the exact (Real) change happening. On video, it is much harder to spot this issue because of the 2D nature of filming. But I know what to look for now. Sadly, I was hurt all last year and most of this year so I really haven’t been able to work on it much. I did do a lot of backswing work though.
