I must admit when they came out, I did not like the look. I hit them great two weeks ago, and will try them again on Saturday. I am waiting for the Pro to get his new Titleist fitting cart, and then it's a go.

I was looking at the 775s last year, but did not get them. I play the TM OS2 and I never thought that a set of Titleist irons might offer more forgiveness. Hell, the AP1 top line is thicker than the OS2 (imho).

The top lines on the AP2 are about the same thickness, which is rare for a forged iron. The rac OS2 are good irons, I cant imagine why you would dump them..

Just kidding - I'm keeping the OS2s as a spare set. Just want something 'shiny & new'....

I am ordering the 2's tomorrow. I broke the seal on the clubs new fitting cart this evening. Nothing like being able to hit the exact length, lie and shaft in the club you are ordering.

I completely agree. When I first saw these, I was pretty turned off but when I saw them in person, it was a much different story (maybe the camera increases the topline and make them look worse

) and when I hit them, wow. Forgiving yet provide some good feedback. I should have a full review of them for TST in the next couple of weeks.

I am really considering getting the AP1s, but what keeps me from ordering a set is that I got no chance to check them out or hit them myself. I do like how they look, just not 100% sure about that thick topline.

Would love to hear some feedbacks on how they are. I have hit the Callaway x-20 and Taylormade r7 - Anyone who can compare the AP1s to these? Harder to hit? Just about the same feel?

19.5 handicap stay away from the Ap1's. Not as forgiving as advertising leads. I would say good for 8-15 handicap player. Get a more forging club till your handicap comes down.

Perhaps not as forgiving, but if you're not planning to be a 19.5 forever, the AP1s probably fit just fine. If you're dedicated, they might even help you to improve rather than some super-ultra game-improvement iron.

In other words, there's not much difference from 19.5 and 15, and you could probably go from 19.5 to 15 just by working on your short game and putting. So I disagree that you need to "stay away" from them. Hit them at a demo day.

Good point you might be able to drop 4 strokes by working on chipping an putting. But then again switching to the Ap1's might add 4 strokes to your iron play compared to getting a more forgiving club. Try out a taylormade Burners, R7's or callaway x-20's these are in the more forgiving area. The Ap1's look great but get them on the course onother story. I even had trouble with them and i throw darts with my irons.

I got fitted (with the new Titleist fitting cart that allows the shaft/head combo to be changed..).
I was initially looking at the AP2, but the AP1s are better for me (I'm a 8-9 hcp).

IMO, they look great (no gooseneck, not too much offset), feel even better (much, much better than the R7 and Tour Burner), great mid/high ball flight, was able to hit a draw or fade (which I don't try very often). This is not an auto draw club. The shorter clubs do not have much offset.

I ordered a set with the DG HL S300. Initially, I was set on the regular Dynamic Gold, but the HL is just a bit softer and the launch angle was within 1* (per Trackman, 6iron 86mph clubhead, 126mph ball, carry was hard to judge due to cool weather and range balls but I estimate close to 170y).

I threw darts at a 110y flag with the W!
They may be best for the 6-15 hcp level, but that's just my opinion..

Good luck.

My understanding is that the AP1's are similar to the Callaway X20 Tours and Taylor Made Burner Tour models, the AP2's are like the Callaway X20's and Taylor Made Burner irons.

Eeek. The AP2 are much more like the X20s than the Burners.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
