Hi, im a 20 yr old golfer with a 20 handicap. I play 2-3 times a week and Im in the market for a new set of irons to improve my game. I dont have a bad swing I just need to make more consistent solid contact. As of right now I am using the original Wilson Fat Shafts with a regular flex. I am looking for a better set of irons with a stiff flex. I dont think i want cavities anymore but im not gooa enough for blades so im leaning towards player irons. I was looking at Nike Cci's. I was wondering if anyone had any input on what a good set of irons would be that fit my game well. Thanks in advance.

Funny you should say that.

I'm 24, my handicap is in the low 20s, I play 2-3 times a week, and I just bought a set of Mizuno MP-57s. Literally, I just paid this morning. My swing, I'm told, is pretty good and I regularly hit my irons well. Whether the cut muscle is right for me, I'll know in a few weeks. It sure felt great at the demo days, the fitting, and in the store!

Seeing how often you play I think you made the right judgement in getting "player" irons. The options are limitless, well not really, but it really is what fits your game the best.

Options that I went through before choosing the r7 TPs.

NIke CCi Irons
Callaway X20 Tour Irons
Mizuno MP 60 Forged Irons
Mizuno MP 32 Cut Muscle Irons
TM rac MB TP Forged Irons

The last ones I hit were the r7 TPs. These to me felt the best and the launch monitor seemed to agree with me so thats the decesion I made.

So many options to choose from. I say just go to a local pro shop or a Golfsmith type of place and swing away. What works for someone might not be the best for another.

Best of luck to you. Most frustrating decesion in golf is which Irons to get.
In My Bridgestone Stand Bag:

Well, my credit card online statement says I paid $974.16. I ordered the MP FLI-HI 3-iron, MP-57 irons 4-9, and MP-T wedges 47.6, 51.6, and 56.14. Then there must have been a sale, because each club costs $100 or so, and I got ten clubs, and the cost is under $1000.

I'll be giving a full report towards the end of May, when I've had them for a week or so. They're being ordered special at the moment.

    • Day 3 (11 Mar 26) - midweek round with friends.  Good session with an 83 (38 / 45).  Got some great up and down pars (6 of 9) with a total 27 putts.  Made for a relaxed round.
    • Day 206 3-11 Focused on wider backswing and reconnecting arm in downswing. Wasn't really happy with how swing was looking today. Wider backswing is very different for me. Went back to do a some longer pauses at the top. Hit a few foam balls.
    • This is an awesome breakdown. most of the bigger tournaments usually have one wave with the advantage, Thank you for the breakdown. If it is soft then it will be a lower final score
    • Over the past 15 years, the winning score has ranged from -10 to -20. Mostly around -13.  Here is Thursday and Friday weather. Saturday and Sunday weather. I think the course will play soft. Plenty of sky cover, lots of rain on Thursday. Fairways and greens will probably stay soft throughout the week.  In terms of tee times, I think Thursday morning and Friday afternoon have the biggest advantage. I bolded the big group of each set.  Most beneficial with the weather Round 1: No. 1 tee, Round 2: No. 10 tee 7:40 a.m., 12:30 p.m.: Mark Hubbard, Thorbjørn Olesen, Mac Meissner 7:52 a.m., 12:42 p.m.: Bud Cauley, Vince Whaley, Chandler Phillips 8:04 a.m., 12:54 p.m.: Emiliano Grillo, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Max Greyserman 8:16 a.m., 1:06 p.m.: Kevin Yu, Cam Davis, Gary Woodland 8:28 a.m., 1:18 p.m.: Ricky Castillo, Ryan Gerard, Patrick Cantlay 8:40 a.m., 1:30 p.m.: Adam Schenk, Garrick Higgo, Matt McCarty 8:52 a.m., 1:42 p.m.: Brian Harman, Maverick McNealy, Davis Riley 9:04 a.m., 1:54 p.m.: Sami Valimaki, Lucas Glover, Matt Fitzpatrick 9:16 a.m., 2:06 p.m.: Michael Brennan, Harris English, J.T.
