Friends Golf League Structure Suggestions

Recommended Posts

Posted

Looking for any and all suggestions on how you all go about structuring your local friends golf league. What has worked best, what sucked, any other useful nuggets of information geared towards simplifying everything. We are using golfsoftware.com to manage it all right now and it's working well.

We've got about 20 guys ranging from 1-12 handicap for 9 holes. The league runs for about 10-12 weeks twice a year and is based on low net performances to establish a first half 1st and 2nd place, a second half 1st and 2nd place and then a season long low net 1st and 2nd place. This locks in 6 people for our Championship round and a play-in is held for the two remaining spots for a 8 person championship shoot out.

What are we missing out on?

Depending on how you score your matches.

My league matches are worth 4 points per week.
2 points for stroke play and 2 for match play.
I think this allows for a little more competitiveness, as even if you are having a bad week, or going up against a low handicapper,  you just need to win a few holes and you can take a point or 2.  This kind of keeps people in it!

In my Grom:

Driver-Taylormade 10.5 Woods- Taylomade 3 wood, taylormade 4 Hybrid
Irons- Callaway Big Berthas 5i - GW Wedges- Titles Volkey  Putter- Odyssey protype #9
Ball- Bridgestone E6
All grips Golf Pride
