    • To follow up on this now that I've played it, hitting something short of the pot bunkers (so 3iron for me from those tees) is absolutely the right choice. The trees on the left are quite large and there are some mounds/uneven lies around both of the pot bunkers too.  I mishit my 3iron slightly but was still in the fairway with like a 9iron to the middle of the green.
    • Won a 4man scramble charity tournament on Saturday with a winning score of 54 (-17) to win by 1 stroke. Normal 4man scramble rules plus each player got 1 mulligan, 3 of us used our mulligans but 2 guys used it on the same par 3 which resulted in a par anyway. Used mine for a 2nd attempt at a wedge shot on our last hole and it was worth it there as it brought us about 5 feet closer and another guy buried the putt for eagle. I eagled our second to last hole on my own, shorter par 5 and I cut the corner leaving 138 in after the tee shot and hit my gap wedge to a foot for tap in eagle.  My last 7 drives all went 290+ and in the fairway so I was very pleased with that.  Won a free round at a country club in the area which I haven't played before so looking forward to playing that later this year.

    • This picture doesn't really do the shot justice: To explain more, I was about a foot away from the lip of the bunker. I had a bit of trouble with the lip. The angle I had to take toward the green helped with that - aiming at the left edge of the bunker meant that a clean strike would be okay. A thin strike would be dicey, though. Both my feet were out of the bunker, and the ball was well below my feet. This is probably a shot I don't attempt in a stroke play tournament, but since it was a 2-man tournament, it was worth the risk. I hit the ball slightly thin, but pretty good. I actually grazed the lip with my club on my follow through. It sort of felt like I double hit the ball, but I obviously didn't. The shot landed on the green and just trickled into the rough. It was a great shot. The strokes gained number doesn't do this justice at all - I saved at least a stroke with this shot.
