When should you replace irons?

Is there a point when irons need to be replaced due to a wear to the grooves? How often are you guys replacing your irons?

I play several times per week between the months of April-October and hit thousands of balls at the range each year. Over the last 15 years I have owned 5 new sets of irons. I do believe that the grooves get worn which will impact the overall clubs performance (especially on your short irons). I change my wedges at least every 2 years.

I would say if you like a set of irons stick with them untill the grooves wear out.

I play an immense amount of golf and usually replace them every 2 1/2 to 3 years

I am currently using the TaylorMade Rac LT's and I have had them for around three seasons, playing nearly everyday. I am looking to get blades but I was trying to figure out if it would be a good idea to get new irons after three years of wear and tear.

It is different for every person, but yes at some point it is benificial to replace your irons with some new ones because of the grooves, when that is is up to you.

Or if you really love your irons, you don't necessarily have to replace them. There are a few places that will re-do the heads and restore them to original condition. The places that I've seen charge as little as $28. So, for less than $200, you have a "new" set.

if youre me you decide on new irons after every bad round you have.

Ive gone through 4 sets this year... and its not even May yet. Well 5 if you count the clevelands i bought then got mad and returned in the matter of 3 hours... Never even took them to the range just put em in my bag looked at em and said "eff these" went right back to the store. But now ive got a new set on its way.
