Percentage of Fairways Hit?

I don't mind being in the rough, as long as I miss IN THE RIGHT SPOTS, where I still have a clear shot and decent lie, but not in trees etc.
But I only average about 40% of fairways, and my GIR is just embarrasing, like 20%. But my short game is like a 2 handicap.

Iacas, I definitely got the inspiration for the topic from your scorecard program.

And to those criticizing the curiosity of this topic, I am not saying that I think fairways hit is the indicator of a great golfer. I am doing so to measure my own game. If somebody is missing the fairway 40-50% of the time, they might feel as though they are wild off the tee and are spraying the ball. However, if that is somewhat along the line of what a 5 handicap does, then it changes the perception of my own game.

This is kind of a subjective question though. My league course is tight and short with large greens (lots of 3 irons off the tee), most of the tournaments courses I play average close to 7000 yds which brings my driver into play a lot more. I do not keep this stat however I could guesstimate 55-60% fairways and 65-70% GIR.

6 out of 7 last round and 9 of 9 greens though.

Guesstimates are good enough.

a 3.6 handicap misses the fairway about 40-45% of the time. Higher handicaps don't have to feel wild if they do the same, and can now appreciate that the scoring aspect comes from other portions of the game.
