So this is a sorta weird slash stupid question.

I got a set of clubs for free the other day (yeah it happens to me a lot) they're awesome clubs X20's with 6.0 project X shafts. I wanna keep em and play with em but i need the 5.0 shaft. Do you think a golf shop will trade me shafts straight across or does anybody know about if golf shops will take used shafts on trade in?

maybe ill make a separate post in the for sale area.

it'll cost ya!

to change shafts - they will need to pull your 6.0's, replace them with new 5.0's . They usually charge for the service. The 5.0's will cost you XX amount but the pulled 6.0's won't be worth as much so they'll be looking for a few quid i'm guessing!

have you hit them at all?

No, i havent played with em. But every other time ive tried to play with stiff shafts its been rough.

Your best bet would be to sell them and look for a set of 5.0s, there's just a lot of labor ($$) involved switching out the shafts.

I could be totally wrong, but could he softstep these a couple of times, buy one or two loose shafts (if he actually wants the long irons), and save quite a bit over a new set of 5.0s?

If they are brand new, you might be able to get a store or pro shop that sells Callaway to trade you for a set that wiht 5.0 shafts. I think that if you just replace the shafts it could be rather expensive. Of course, you didn't pay anything for the clubs so the cost would be minimal compared to buying a new set. Or just sell them outright and then get the clubs you want.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.
