Just curious, do these putters such as the black series i 9 favor a certain stroke? I currently use a teardrop that is very similar to the scotty camerons. I don't even know what kind of stroke i use. I try to just go straight back and through.

I heard that the mallets favor guys like michelson who do the forward press.

thanks

I use a DFX 2-ball putter and I do not use a forward press. On putts under 6 feet, I let the putter swing itself. The feel and "hotness" off the face has a lot to do with how it plays.

The DFX has a softer, black face and requires a harder stroke. They are truly great putters.

Face-balanced putters work for the straight back and through stroke. Toe balanced putters (like Scottys) work for a curved stroke. The easiest way to tell is to balance the shaft on a finger. If the face is level it's face-balanced (heel-toe balanced). If the toe drops, it's toe-balanced. The Black series #3 and Black-i series #7 are face balanced, try those. I think all the rest are toe balanced.

Same putter here and total agreement.

This has been a really good putter for me.
