Reactions to Rick Reilly's debut article on ESPN.com from ESPN the magazine? I subscribed to SI and prob the sole reason I did so was for the back page article from Rick Reilly. So, now he's moved to ESPN, I got rid of the SI subscription, and will read him online now.

Interesting article that intertwines golf into his life. I personally enjoyed it.

Reilly never disappoints. I read, recently, that he sold two of his screenplays and is having one made into a movie. His partner in the venture is George Clooney. SI's loss is ESPNs gain.

Yeah the movie was Leatherheads, and it was horrendous. There's a reason why sportswriters write sports and not films.

Mitch Albom, and to a lesser extent, Mike Lupica being the exception with some of their books.

But trust me, Leatherheads was God awful.

Thats a great story, but being taught how to golf like that, being yelled at constantly. I'm suprised he ever went back to the game.

      New Maxfli Forged Irons - $800!

      I appreciate that you have taken the time to come back and update. Based on what was previously discussed I feel like the points were; forged, feel good, price, and possibly players distance. If you like the "looks" of those Maxfli irons and if price is a major point, then going straight to the source, Maltby, might make sense. Specifically, the TS3 iron. I was looking into this myself and found some reviews: Fit2YouGolf, Lets Play Thru, and ELITE FIT GOLF. As per your update I found the Maxfli to be ~$1300 fitted the way I wanted. Where the TS3 with the same fitting and assembled by Golfworks was less than $750. I suppose the downside is to actually hit the iron you will need to get lucky and find someone in your golf circle who will let you hit theirs or order a 6 or 7 iron to test. However, the way I look at that is being equivalent to some fittings. If you like the results and buy, then the fitting is free, otherwise the price of the fitting is a sunk cost. If name brand is important, then I submit for your consideration - THE BEST OVERALL IRON of 2024...... FACT !! 😉 A bit tongue in cheek that but also, I feel some good points were discussed.
