I am looking to buy my wife a new driver for her birthday come up. She just bought some new Callaway irons and she loves them and she is playing alot better. She likes Callaway so they will go with her clubs but I just like to get a driver that would be best for her. I need a driver with alot of forgivness and more distance. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Cobra and Nike seem to make the most forgiving drivers if you ask me. But I think a lot of it depends on her swing, and what she is comfortable with.

Some companies make better ladies drivers - I know the Callaway is excellent, Ping too. Also check out Taylormade. Can't go wrong with the Callaway though, most ladies in my club use them, my mom loves them too.

I'd have to recommend the Callaways Women's Big Bertha drivers to you. Both my mom and my wife own the 2007 model and they absolutely love them. My wife demo'ed my mom's before buying hers and it was love at first hit...

What's in my stand bag:

X-16 SW, PW, & Irons
Halo 3 & 5 hybrids
Big Bertha '07 3-wood FT-5 Draw 10 degree Old Skool Isopur blade putter

Yours....and you get a new one. I suggest you buy a nice warm blanket and comfy pillow when you pick up your new driver too

Personally I don't think there is much difference in the heads of drivers between women and men's drivers, mainly just color. It's the shaft that is the major difference. Women just don't swing as fast as the average man so they need a shaft that is going to be better for their slower swing.

beung Great thought but i already tried it and she couldnt hit my driver so I am just going to sell mine and get her a used one. But I am getting a new one anyway.

Ok thanks I was looking at the Callaway Big Betha but I didnt know how much forgiveness it had. She doesnt need anything super nice just a better driver than she has now. Thanks for the suggestions.

As far as distance and forgiveness go I would look for a driver with a loft degree north of 12degrees...with a slower swing speed more loft will usually help with overall distance. I also second the shaft being most important.

Hi-Bore 9.5° w/ UST pro-force v2 Stiff
Halo 1i 16°
Halo 3i 22°
735.cm 4-PW
Vokey 52.8, Vokey Spin-Milled 56.10, 60.4 Sophia 32" or Studio Design 1 34"

I would suggest a square head. as its all about forgiveness and not workability.

there are some great square heads out there now. depending on your price point. check out the new Nickent's.

My wife just got the 13 deg 2008 Womens Big Bertha and loves it. It has a slightly smaller head (420 or 430 vs. 460) and is very forgiving. She's been hitting great with it.

I bought my mother the Maltby L-tech in 13* and it is a great club. Just make sure you get a shaft that fits her swing as well. The whole club was only about $130. My wife plays with something very similar, just a different component. I think the most important things are to get a shaft that works for her swingspeed, whatever that is, and to get enough loft... probably 12-14* for most women.
