Will 1/2 in longer on the shaft make a big difference? I found a set of clubs I really like and there is a cheaper set for the 1/2in longer and I was just wondering... thanks

Did you type that with a straight face? Okay - first I am not going to touch that fat curvball you laid out there with the first sentence.

2nd - The shaft length - I guess it could. I golf a regular length average joe shaft but I have used ones that were 1 inch longer. I hit those better on average. Perhaps it depends on swing but I might be tempted to try it if the price was substantially cheaper. Are you sure you should be golfing the STD length sticks? Get fitted and see where you stand and then you can determine if the 1/2 inch makes that much of a difference.

Yes it does. A 1/4 inch makes a big difference let alone 1/2. I would guess the more important issue is weather or not the clubsare 1/2 longer than standard, or 1/2 too long for you. If you know what your personal measurements are and find the clubs are still 1/2 too long; get those things cut down if you can. It can really mess with your posture and address which will then affect your swing.

Often longer clubs are often bent upright as well, I think. Might want to check into the lie angles. If they are standard lie angle seems like you could always cut them down to standard length.

My Pings were fitted at standard lie and 1/2 inch longer and they work great for me. Better than the set they replaced. Best advice: Get fit and see.
