I like all of the Opus x cigars, they are hard to find out here but they are really good. The Fuente Hemingway series are all good smokes also. Let me know what you think of the Saint Luis Rey, I have never tried one.

I just got done playing some twilight golf and smoke the SLR G Robusto...very nice draw and reminds me of a La Gloria Cubano but not as overpowering. It's a solid smoke for $5. I like it and to me it seems to be on the medium to the lower rung of full bodied.

PS. It was beautiful out there at twilight...sometimes a nice quiet round by yourself with a good smoke is downright relaxing and a good capper to the day to day b.s...I LOVE daylight savings time.

Thanks for the info I will have to pick some up next time i go get cigars. I understand and agree with you on a cigar and a nice quiet round of golf, no distractions except nature.

I also always ask my group if I don't know the people but again my neighbors probably think the same thing because I smoke a stick almost every night. And for the most part I stand to the back or side of my group while smoking.

It is getting harder and harder to enjoy a good stick in public because everyone complains, about the smoke. Even living in Vegas where you would think everything is a go, it is worse now than ever. Can't even smoke at some bars...If they ban smoking on the golf course then...what next my own back yard.

Whether you choose to drink while playing, smoke while playing, both or none of the above as long as you are being considerate to your group then it really should not matter.

I find excessive cussing, other vocal outbursts (while I'm in midswing or putt), unraked traps, and excessive slow play are more offensive to my on course sensibilities.

Long ashes to you...

Well Said...

A plea to those of you who simply MUST smoke the smelly things on the course, please think of those you are playing with and stay downwind. Even when I was a smoker I couldn't stand cigars, and now as an ex-smoker they are a particular irritant to me. One of the things I love about being on the course is the clean fresh air, and cigar smoke is not one of nature's perfumes....

I can respect what you are saying here but, we have just as much right to smoke those semlly things, as you put it, on the course, as you do to not smoke them. The problem I have with people that ask me to quit smoking my cigar is, most of them are the same people that will walk into a bar and inhale second hand smoke from hundreds, or even thousands, of cigarettes all night long and not complain at all. Just does not make sense to me. Now, I am not saying this is you, just speaking from what I know. I too ask the people I am playing with if I do not know them. Now on to the Opus X, I feel they are much better with at least a years worth of age on them. I do not smoke them very much just because I feel that there are cigars out there that are just as good, and I would smoke everyday, and are cheaper. They are just not worth the $$$$ to me.

I generally get more compliments on the scent of my stogie than complaints, particularly at the range. (10:1)

If someone asks politely, I will move to another spot or moderate my smoking at the range. If someone with asks me with a condescending tone if it ever occurs to me that the smoke might bother people, I answer "yes" and tee up another ball.

Ah! A great subejct!!! For me, on the golf course, a short smoke is a better idea...so the Monte Christo No. 5 is just the right size, lasting only 3 holes max....but the best smoke for me after a round, is the Ramon Allones Special Selection. It's a robusto in size, and draws like an open door. here, we only smoke Cuban.

Yes! RASS is my favorite! As well as Partagas SD4s. Cuban only as well!

I just open my humi and take whatever I feel like smoking, plus a couple of extras incase someone else wants one..

I played with group last weekend, three guys two of whom I already knew.. Met them at the first tee, we all teed off got the green in two.. Had to wait for other young guy in the group so I decided to light my stogie. Offered the other guys one both of the gents I knew took one and the younger guy was freaking out about the smell how bad it was for your health etc etc.. I tee up and hit my ball to the green (par 3) wait for the other guys the younger guy is up. Slices the hell out of the ball he flips then yells at me that my cigar is bothering him and he cant play. Sorry I say and move a good distance away, he takes his second swing slice again.. As were walking he bitching and moaning about this and that, then all of a sudden he lights a cig?!?!?!?! I ask what about health issues and all that crap u said at the first tee??!?!?!?! he saids nothing and goes on.. needless to say I will never play with him again and I made sure whenever I puffed hit went right to him..

What a hypocritical Ahole... Lit up a Carlos Torano, La Gloria Cubano, and 2 Partagas Maximo cigars this weekend...a great weekend to enjoy a smoke and swing a club in Florida. Hope everyone had a safe and golf filled weekend!

Right now, I am kinda stuck on Hoyo Excalibur Limiteds and Fonseca Sun-Grown Cedars (No. 4). I also like (guilty pleasure, I know, and not the choice of the macho cigar smoker) Kahlua cigars once in a great while.

Just heads up on a new cigar I tried that was really well made and a good smoke...Cuban Imports Exile (maduro wrap/robusto)...medium to full bodied...good draw...so far all the sticks I've smoked burned evenly.

It's made in Nicaragua...

Cool, I will have to look and see if we have those in Vegas...Living in FL you must get some good sticks coming through there.

Still wonder if when Castro dies if the embargo will be lifted...I have only ever smoked three cubans in my life and two out of the three were awesome and the third was just good.

Living in Vegas you must have been to the Casa Fuente store. I hear that's a great store. PS I'm smoking a La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero.

To be honest with you, I've smoked about 4 real cuban cigars myself (2 in Canada and 2 in the Carribean). They were good but the Dominican cigars seemed just as good of a stick to me...maybe my palate isn't refined enough to know the difference yet.

I just picked up a grab bag of single sticks at my local smoke shop just to broaden my cigar horizon: Ashton Maduro (robusto) Partagas 1845 Limited Reserve (cifuente) Monticristo Natural (robusto) H Upman 1844 Cameroon Corona #5 Macanudo Vintage 2000 CAO Mx2 Maduro I'm having a poker/smoker/draft watch BBQ saturday, while the wifeys spend our $$$ at the outlet mall...AND golf in the morning...lifes good!

    • Day 314 - Putting some things together. Better grip/setup, fuller backswing, better finishing position. Filmed some swings, happy with the progress.
    • Day 130: did a stack session.
    • Day 206 (24 Nov 24)  - An easy session with the 54deg wedge and hard foam balls / one simple goal - distance control thru backswing length while not decelerating.  Had a playing partner comment they noticed me decelerating on a couple short wedge shots in last round.  Hit from distances from close to 40yds down to 20.
    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
