Nice one. I felt like doing all that today with some of the shots I was hitting. Fortunately, I have a bit of self-control that keeps me from looking like an idiot.

That's just stupid. I have some anger issues and if I make some bad shots I can swear a bit but I understand that a cool head will always help the game and the anger will only make the game worse, so is life. Maybe this guy not only needs some golf lesons but some life lessons. Had a friend make some bad shots one round and hit his nice push cart and wrecked the wheel! That was funny. But at the time he had his dog with us and she was tied to his cart and I could tell she was pretty scared of his little tantrum, I felt bad for her.

I'm new to the game so I've never seen anything like this, but had a similar feeling myself last week when I couldn't hit for my life. I bought a used Taylormade R580 XD and my slice is horrific. I quit on the 6th hole and went and shot two buckets on the driving range.

haha thats great, I see that from time to time, sometimes from myself:

I was at a course awhile ago, And hit a drive into the trees, I had a clear PW out onto the green from about 30 yards, I chunked the shot and it went into the trees again, it wasn't even that bad but I completely flipped out.

I know what its like, nothing could make you even more mad in the world at that point. Its just something in the mind, its a game, but its more than that in your head.

I have a friend who goes to Models at the begining of the season and buys 10 $10.00 putters and snaps them at various times during the season and throws them in the lake or just sticks both pieces in the ground and walks to the next hole.It is just hilarous. Also he is 6-5 and 250 so it makes it even funnier.

I've found 10 $10.00 bottles of blackberry brandy to be much more therapudic.

I was playing with 3 others. A couple of wise guys were on our tail from the 3rd hole on. We had to wait at each tee for the group in front of us. On the 8th hole one of the wise guys hit his driver as we hitting our second shot. His shot hit one of my friends in the back. He went bananas. He then chaed them back to the club house. He informed the pro of what had happened, but by then they were in their car and gone.

I've never broken anything, because I wouldn't be able to buy another.
But there have been times where I get so angry, and I am not proud of it. I really worked on bringing it down, and I've gotten so much better at managing my emotions, but there are sometimes where I just can't do it.

More over it's the times where some says "nice shot" as soon as I make contact, even if it was terrible, because they want to be nice because I'm a kid. A lot of 50 year old men don't realize it, but it makes the kid want to snap his driver across their teeth.

Good friend of mine has incredible anger issues on the course... Once last summer we were playing the third hole at a nice upscale course... After topping his 3 hybrid four times in a row he lets fly with the saltiest language I've ever heard on the course at the top of his lungs... I'm trying not to laugh but it was funny... When we get to number 10 there was a backup on the course... A group in front of us came driving back to the tee... The guy driving had his wife/girlfriend/mistress with him... He stopped when he got to our cart... My friend was standing on the tee... The guy rolls up and says "hey man, that outburst from your friend on the front nine"... I prepared for the worst and he says "that was the funniest s*** I've heard on a gold course in a long time!" the laughter that I was holding in since the 3rd hole just busted out... Glad the guy had a good attitude, he could have been ticked but laughed about it... Funny stuff

I cant stand being around anyone like that. We used to have a guy that joined us once or twice a month, and would throw clubs and yell, cuss, etc etc. We tolerated it for the first few holes, then would start riding his butt about it. He usually calmed down. However, one time he continued to act like a donkeys butt, and at the turn, when he went in, we took his bag off the cart, set it by the door, and left him. He didnt even call or follow us out, he got the picture. He has joined up a few times since, and has been a lot better, but we don't see him near as much.

I know how he feels. 5th hole today, dogleg right (actually almost the sameas yours) for me went like this: slice into someones yard, perfect 5 wood out... into a tree. finaly manage to get around the dogleg in 3, thin a hybrid to 50 yards from green. hit my pitch short. skid over green. end up on the green in 7, and 2 putt.

holy crap was I pissed... didn't break anything though.

    • I am semi-loyal. Usually buy four dozen of one ball and only play that until out and then determine whether to continue or try another one. Since starting my semi-loyal path to success, I've been playing the below, not in order: ProV1 ProV1x ProV1x left dash AVX Bridgestone BXS Srixon Z-star XV I am not sure if it has helped anything, but it gives a bit of confidence knowing that it at least is not the ball (while using the same one) that gives different results so one thing less to mind about I guess. On the level that I am, not sure whether it makes much difference but will continue since I have to play something so might as well go with the same ball for a number of rounds. Edit: favorite is probably the BXS followed by ProV1/Srixon Z-star XV. Haven't got any numbers to back it up but just by feel.
    • Will not do it by myself, going to the pro shop I usually use after Cristmas for input and actually doing the changes, if any, but wanted to get some thoughts on whether this was worthwhile out of curiosity.
    • In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.
    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
    • I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.
