Hey all-- I am pretty new to golf, and was looking to get a cavity back to replace my 4th hand Taylor made irons i was given.

I really like the look of the I10, and I have heard they are reasonably forgiving. I figure if i get a middle of the road club (not a players iron, not the raptures) they should last me quite awhile... Any opinionsÉ (I can get an almost new 5-PW for 3 hun canadian, and the lengths are the setup my online fitting says)...

Thanks in advance for the tips.

I hit them at golf galaxy the other day and I was very impressed. They felt so smooth on off center hits too I only noticed about a 5-10 yard loss on off center hits. The one thing I did notice though was that (atleast for me) had a very high trajectory.

The are amazing clubs, It was a toss between those and the S58's for me, both hit almost the same. Great club to grow into. Forgiveness is great on them.

I also suggest the Ping G10's.

I play them, and they are nice, have a GREAT feel when you pure them, but I would like to echo Dent, try both the i10's and the G10's before you buy. I say this because for Dent they may be reasonably forgiving, but he is a single digit handicap, the i10's still take a little bit to hit them consistently. A friend of mine who is about a 20 handicap has trouble hitting them to the point where it would be good for him to buy, so he is probably going to get G10s.

Here's what I play:

My handicap is plenty high too. I went in to my pro to get fitted, I was thinking like you, that the I10 may be a better fit to 'grow into' as my game improved.

After hitting about 100 or so balls, with him handing me clubs blindly, he told me that the G10's were a much better fit for me, and that they'd serve me until I was a single digit handicapper.

I love my G10's, and would recommend them to anyone. Take the time to go get fitted from a pro, and never look back.

    • Day 22: mirror work for a while. Working on my elbow in the downswing - keeping it in a better position.
    • Day 36 (16 Dec 25) - continued the exaggerated left foot weight shift trigger adding some easy low flighted pitches with the 5h and a few putting style bump and runs with the 5h as well.
    • Day 442 - 2025-12-16 Got some swings in at an indoor academy a little south of Erie.
    • Has anyone played the new Maxfli forged irons? For the first time in I don't know how many years, they have come out with new clubs. From what I read, Maxfli was bought by Taylor Made a long time ago which then took all of their ball making technology and patents in order to get into that market. The club business was left to whither and the reorganized company, now a part of Dicks / Golfworks / Maltby, is producing these new clubs. (Their Tour X balls which I play are really good.) Anyway, I tried them both out at Golf Galaxy. There's a player's distance iron (XC-3) and a blade (XC-2) and both feel really, really nice, almost "Mizuno-like" in their soft buttery feel and they're a bargain at $800 for a set. I'm planning to ditch my Titleist's and want to go back to a forged iron. I almost pulled the trigger on the Mizuno Pro-245's last summer, but a damaged tendon sheath in my finger combined with a back injury messed up my golf game so I held off. Now the Pro-245's are no longer available, soon to be replaced by the MX-15. (At twice the price of the Maxfli's...that's what got my attention in the first place.) If anyone has played with the new Maxfli's or just tried them out like I did, let me know what you think.
    • Day 126 12-16 Back swing and rotation work today. Didn't hit any balls. Focusing on rotating and getting to lead side.
