All Time Slow.

It caused us to quit after 2 holes of the second nine.

My dad had today off, so we decided to come out and play. Since it's a week day, we thought it would be extremely fast, and we would just fly through. But there were a suprising amount of people playing, so we had to go off number 10 because it was packed and we didn't have a tee time.
We play the first nine in 2 hours, slow for 2, but the greenkeeper was right ahead and we had to wait on him every hole to mow the green. It was fine.

The second nine, we have to wait 30 minutes to tee off. One group of 4 was to go ahead of us. Two of the guys went to the range until the griup ahead of them teed off, and then came back. The other two stayed on the putting green till the group ahead CLEARED THE GREEN. then they take 20 minutes to play the hole. Next hole, they spend 10 minutes on the teebox, then take another 20 to finish the hole.

We called it right there. I refuse to sit through that under any conditions.

try this next time:

Put the clubhouse phone number into your cell phone, as soon as the group ahead of them starts pulling away, or you can identify the group creating the gap forcing redicuously slow play... make the call.

A great point that was given to me last Saturday. They had the ranger on the group within 10 minutes.

I called the clubhouse to thank them as well.

YOu had to wait for the greens keeper to finish mowing? I have never heard of that. Sorry to hear that. Most greenskeepers will pull aside and let you play the hole and then get back to mowing. (atleast at the clubs that I play)

We were happy they were mowing, we got 9 inches of rain over 3 days, so they havent been able to mow for 3 days, and they got LONG. So waiting for fresh greens was ok

try this next time:

We were playing infront of a marshall on his day off, even if he was off he could have done something. They never do though, the marshalls where we play don't tell anyone to pick it up, they just like to toalk to the people they know, and it slows the game donw further.

I can't blame the, though, everyone who has told a player that was slow that they have to pick it up or leave, got fired. Everyone who takes any measure to improve the conditions, gets fired. And we did complain, the guy working in the shop didn't do anything, for the prior reason. He watched a guy get fired for telling someone who had been complained aout 5+ times he needs to play faster, get fired.

Thats is too bad. I would stop playing the course.

Driving 20-30 minutes to play elsewhere will still save you time in the long run.

Last Saturday I got behind a real log jam. There were several slow foursomes in front of us but the one directly in front of us took the cake. They were actually two twosomes that got matched up by the starter. Two of the guys were pretty good golfers but the other two were horrible. On the par 3 4th hole I watched that girl hit the ball 8 times before she ever made the green and then it took her 4 putts to get down. By the time we got to #6 the group in front of them were 2 holes ahead. I called the clubhouse and they sent the Ranger right out. He had a little talk with them. Don't know what he said to them but they picked up their balls and actually left the course. I hope they went to the driving range.

Last Friday, after getting progressively slower, we walked to the Par 3 #4 tee and were the 4th group waiting, with one on the green. We were at the 2 hour point of our round and not to #5 green yet. The Ranger made excuses for the "outing" they were having and said he couldn't ask them to spped up 'cause they spent so much $$. Needless to say I gave the Pro a piece of my mind after the round.
