Info needed on used wedges

I just came back on a long weekend vacation and at a golf shop I was looking at wedges. I need ato get a 49 or 50 wedge since my PW is a 45*. I dont want to spend 100 on a wedge and I also dont want to buy anything very old. I had seen a couple used pings in the $50 area but I really dont know much about them. I have heard cleveland wedges were good. How about the black pearl? Anyway I am a high handicapper so I want something that is easy to hit. I noticed on a couple discount websites there are some cheaper brands well below $50. Hogan, Simac, Adams etc. Anyway thanks for any info on a model to look for.

there are some great wedges out there, The Cleveland CG12's are great, If you aren't really looking for spin and just something easy to hit these are good wedges.

There are also the Nike SV Tour Wedges that are around $80 brand new, Which I've heard good things about. Maybe look around on this forums marketplace and you might even grab a Vokey for under $50.

I believe CG 12's are going to be well out of his price range.

I would recommend looking at the Adams Tom Watson set. You get 3 wedges for $100 and they feel great. Very easy to hit as well.

It's unclear to me whether you are interested in a used or new wedge. If you want a used wedge, then you can get a Titleist Vokey or Cleveland wedge for about $50; most people consider these the best wedges. I think a used wedge in good condition would serve you better than a cheap new wedge. But that's not to say there aren't good cheap new wedges out there. I'd just have to know the specific one you are looking at. I agree that the Watson set is good for the money, but I don't know if you want a whole set.

I really dont care if its new or used. I may look into the Tom Watson wedges. Probably be just fine for me. I really we be fine with a 50 and perhaps a 54* but my main concern is getting a 50* The only other thing I may look into is a 49* Nickent 3dx rc that would go with my irons.

One thing I just found out the Tom wastons just come in 52,56 and 60. My PW is a 45*. I see the CG11's are much cheaper. Would this be a good choice.

It is only a good choice if they feel rigth in your hand. My PW is also 45 degrees. Yet my next club is 54 degrees. I

Keep an eye on Ebay. In the past few months Ive bought 4 wedges on Ebay (3 Titleist Vokeys and a Mizuno MP-T) and none of the cost me over $50.
Granted, they are used clubs but other than a few bag chatter marks you'd never be able to tell they werent new.

I used to play wedges that weren't evenly spaced between the lofts. After I changed to coordinated lofts, I saw an improvement in distance control and overall feel. But this is really a personal preference thing.

If you are planning to buy more wedges down the line, I would get the Nickent that matches your set. You are really buying a gap wedge that you will use a lot out of the fairway. So its nice if that one matches your other clubs. You could then buy a traditional blade style wedge or two to finish off your set.

they are great, i have a 52, 56 wedge of Nike SV Tour Wedges, they have a great feel and the results are good too

      Day 34 (14 Dec 25) - Got outside for a few moments to work on bump and runs with the 4h (again using the exaggerated weight shift reminder of the left (lead) heel). Finding that it helps keep the downswing arc extended.

      I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
