Hey,

It seems everytime I googled a piece of equipment I was interested in, I'd end up reading your forum... so I decided to jump on in. Been playing off and on for about 20 years, and I don't get out nearly as much as I wish I did (maybe 6-10 times per season).

Actually looking for some input/feedback on some new gear. I'm looking to upgrade some parts of my current bag. I'll post in the appropriate forum as soon as I submit this posting...

Hi. I'm right there with you. I wish I had more time to play.

Great spirits will always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

If you havn't already, go wkith the hybrids instead of long irons. there is a fantastic difference.

I've got a Taylor Made Rescue Mid to replace my 3-iron. I really didn't have much trouble hitting the 3-iron, but I like the versatility that the hybrid offered (good in the rough, useful to chip with, etc). My 4-iron's my favorite iron, so that's not going anywhere

    • My dad had an original Ping Anser that I got refinished. Ping only charged $20 so I figured why not. It’s hard to believe the weight difference between my current gamer (counterbalanced Edel with 25g weight) and the Anser. I’m going to throw a new grip on the Anser and try it out.  I know this is a huge difference and just from a few practice swings the lighter putter doesn’t feel near as stable. I highly doubt it will outperform the Edel but wanted to know what’s everyone’s experience with a lighter vs heavier putter?
    • Right - better can mean different things depending on the situation. It might mean scoring better or it might mean closer to a functional swing (which in the moment might be scoring worse).
    • That's certainly "basic" information. I need a lot more info than just that for a good chunk of my even teen-handicap golfers.
    • As we said… define "better."
    • Phone launch monitors are only getting better.  The cameras are improving with each new generation of phone and software is getting more accurate.  It is only a question of time before phone apps are good enough for all the basic information a golfer needs (club head speed, ball speed, carry distance, total distance).  It makes me wonder about the value of launch monitors in the long run, barring high level amateurs and professionals who want very accurate data and more parameters
