I'm thinking about getting a new driver and i narrowed it down to new taylor made tour burner TP, new taylormade tour burner and titleist 907 D2. I'm leaning towards the titleist because i'm not comfortable spending $400 on a driver (TP), not sure about the light weight with slightly closed face for the regular tour burner, especially with my natural tendency being a draw.

Now my dilema is what loft and which shaft do i get? i've been playing the cleveland launcher 460cc with Adila NV 65 with 9.5 loft. i always felt my launch angle was bit high and the shaft felt kinda light. On a ideal hit, it will go about 280~290. On a bad hit, it'll go straight into the canyons and waters. My swing speed seems to be in the mid 90s. i tried the launch monitor today at the local golf shop but i'm a bit skeptical about those machine because i don't feel the same hitting the ball in the small closed area as opposed to the wide open driving range or the actual course. anywho, i kept getting the lower than ideal launch angle with 9.5 with stiff.

Would i be returning the club right away if i buy the D2 with 8.5 with X stiff shaft? I just feel like if i get the 8.5 with X stiff, i might be looking at 300.
Which shaft is the best one out of the 3 stock shafts?

I think unless your swing speed is 110+ you would benefit to much from an X shaft, but if you want a lower launch angle check out lower launch shafts, ProLaunch Red, or others.

Here's what I play:

Titleist 907 D2 10.5* UST ProForce V2 76-S | Titleist 906F4 18.5* Aldila VS Proto "By You" 80-S | Titleist 585H 21* Aldila VS Proto "By You" 80-S | Titleist ZB 4-PW TTDG S300 | Bob Vokey Spin Milled Oil Can 54.10 | Bob Vokey Spin Milled Oil Can 60.08 | Scotty Cameron Red X5 33" |

A good friend and co-worker of mine hit's X-flex shaft and he went to a long drive contest this past weekend and had his swing speed measured. 146mph. So if you're saying your swing speed is mid 90's then there's no reason for you to be swinging X-stiff.

The best bet for you would be to get a shaft with a low launch angle, a higher kick point. And I wouldn't go with the 8.5, that will most likely promote too much side spin.

I like the Aldila VS Proto 65, and you can get that shaft on a Sumo 5000 for $199. Awesome buy right now.

Others more knowledgeable than me may say something differently, but if you are looking for more distance you may want LESS stiff, or with a different kick-point, than what you are playing. As a general rule, I equate stiffness with increased control, not distance. I just got fit for a new D2 and was put in a Proforce V2 75 with a swing speed of 109. If you're swing speed is in the 90's. you should at least hit something less stiff to see how it goes. There really is no substitute for going somewhere outside that can put you on a bunch of different shafts to see how each works for you.
