I have always been a lag putter but at this public course with so much play the cups become higher due to the foot print pressure around the holes.

right edge putts break off to the right and left edge break off to the left. The opening is dead center up the hill.

Have tried a number of techniques and the best is putting up the back of the ball but I would rather find a putter that would help with center firm putting.

would appreciate any suggestions.

Go jump on the hole...jk. I have no idea what you could do but that would be extremely frustrating.

In my Datrek Rage bag:

4-Wood: SasQuatch 2 w/ Diamana Stiff
Irons: AP2 4-PW w/ PX 6.0
Wedges: Zodia US Spec 52*, Yururi Gekku 57*, 588 DSG RTG+Putter: Scotty Cameron Studio Style 3.5 or Odyssey White Hot Tour #1Ball: ProV1 or whatever I find!

I have the exact same problem. I tend to die the ball into the hole, and the "lumpy doughnut" -- as Pelz calls it -- around the hole is a nightmare on softer, more heavily-played greens. Alas, I don't think there is a technology solution. Putting a good roll on the ball is putting a good roll on the ball. Putters that aim (or claim) to put more forward spin on the ball, like Yes! and Guerin Rife Putters, might theoretically help, as might high MOI putters that reduce sidespin, but there's a slope there we just have to cope with.

Dave Pelz himself didn't offer up any solutions, as I recall. I usually play less break and more pace on slower public greens to reduce the influence of such inconsistencies. Good luck!

I actually did the same thing. Die it as it got there. Then I switched to my Odyssey and have not had the same issues. I think it is finding a putter that fit my game more.
