Hi all,
I would like to add a lob wedge to my set. At the momente I have the PW and SW from my big bertha set. Should I buy the LW from the set? Or can I buy a new one such as a cleveland or vokey?

Go with what feels best for you. Try a few out if you get a chance. If you already hit your clubs good, try some other styles such as the two you mentioned and see which ones feel the most comfortable.

I would go out and get a Cleveland or a Vokey wedge. They have more technology in them than the ones you get in an iron set.

With a 18+ handicap, If you want to use it for full and 3/4 shots, I'd highly recommend one that matches your set. If you want to use it mainly for those short sided chips, I'd consider a Vokey for the spin factor. Also the new Xforged from Callaway feels great and spins like hell too, if you want to keep it in the family, so to speak.

CG14, it may not have the spin of a vokey or callaway. But it has a nice forgiving feel to it. And its a good wedge.

Thanks for you help.
A friend of mine, told me that as I have the PW and SW from my, set I should have even the AW and LW from the set, because the feeling otherwise will be different.

Thanks for you help.

That is true, but you may want to ditch the sand wedge from your set and buy a set of wedges, such as Vokey's or Cleveland's, as they will be more versatile, since you can open them up easier or shut them easier. But as others have stated is comes down to what you want and how the wedges feel to you. My best advice would be to go somewhere that has demo wedges and try them all out and then decide from there what you want to do based upon what feels best to YOU. Hope this helps, and good luck with finding the club for you.

Hi all,

IMO, wedges are like putters and all about "feel". If you like the wedges you presently have then add the LW. Personally all of my wedges, (pw, gw & lw) are Edilons. One last thing about learning how to hit the lw; however hard you think you should hit it, hit it a little harder. Good luck and enjoy the journey.

Try both and see what works. I bought a Cleveland 48* CG11 as my pitching wedge but I discovered I don't really like it. Most aftermarket wedges are heavier in swing weight than wedges that come as part of a set so if you're used to the other wedges in your iron set a Cleveland or Vokey might feel heavier to you. I think the Nike SV feels closer in swingweight to the wedges in my Adams set.
