I'm in love and playing MP 60's. I want to get to the point where the ball striking is always on point and money so that I won't really suffer on a missed shot with a blade. My father borrowed my clubs last week b/c his friend who's a college golf instructor and has been helping my dad become this amazing golfer at his age (69 and only playing 10 years..shooting in the low 80's consistently) told my dad that he thought it was time he moved from a CB to a forged mid cb or even more of a blade. my dad took the mp 60's and fell in love with them. he's about 5 yards shorter with the club, but felt they were better, setup nicer and were controllable (he's all about the smooth swing)

Me being the golfer with the problem of always wanting the awesome gear thought, well what if I gave my dad my set and got a set of MP 67's.
I've hit the 67's 7 - pw. those felt BETTER than the 60's, but i lost like 2 - 5 yards per club...10 yards short on mishits. how hard are the 3 - 6 to hit in the 67's? and at $450 are the 67's too good to pass up?

I recently bought new clubs (last week actually) and the decision came down to the ZB forged and MP-67. I ended up with the ZB mainly because the local club pro has Titleist and gave me a great deal on them. I could have got the Mizuno for about the same price, but he really helped me with several weeks of testing and fitting so I thought that should be rewarded. Plus I felt very little difference between the two.

Anyway...the reason the 67 are shorter is that the standard lofts are one degree weaker than the 60. If that bothers you, they could be easily adjusted to the loft of your old 60's. The bounce is also one degree strong so a decrease in loft will give you the same bounce that you are used to. I did hit a demo 6-iron in the 67 and it wasn't awful to hit. The 3-5 may be a little harder but I never hit those. I guess it comes down to how well you strike the ball. The $450 is a great price for those however. If you are really concerned you could get a combo set of 67 (6-W and have them bent one degree stronger) and either 57 or 60 for the longer irons. That is the route I was going to take. 6-W in 67 and the 4 and 5 would be 57's. Mizuno is very good about letting you combine different products to make your complete set. However you would probably have to give up the great deal for a full set of 67s to go this route. I have a chart made with all different 'players' clubs and how they compare on loft/lie/length if you need it.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

It is in Excel format. Not sure if it will go through the pm service here. You can pm you e-mail and I can send it that way.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
