We were playing behind an exeptionally slow group last saturday, and we all know how frustrating it can get. But, they decided to leave their sand wedge on the 13th green, and instead of running up to give it to them, we found the marshall, told him that he can give it to them, but they have to let us play through.

We wathced as he goes up to give it to them, and as they pull off to the side, and waive us on.

We played the last 4 holes faster than we played the last 2 behind the group. Yes, only 4 holes, but fast players will understand that being behind a slow group is tourture.

About a week ago, I was golfing at my home course. On the first tee 4 guys driving carts were in front of me, I was alone and walking, so I half expected for them to offer for me to go first, but they didn't. I figured no biggy they are on carts so they should go fairly fast. Man was I wrong, they were the slowest players that I have ever seen. I waited at least 10 to 15 minutes on the first 4 tee boxes just to drive. They would not let me play through, so on the 5th hole I went into the clubhouse and ordered a pop and had some conversation for about 15 to 20 minutes, figuring that they would be way ahead of me by then. I came outside and they were just teeing off on 6. I caught up and was waiting again by the 7th tee box. They still wouldn't let me play through. It was my second worst score of the season. I could not get in a rhythm because of all the waiting around. It took 3 1/2 hours to play nine holes.
We don't have marshalls were I play so I just had to wait it out.
I am pleading with slow players and understanding that we are all slower at times, but please by kind and let faster golfers play through. It is not only polite and good etiquette, but at our course it is also a rule.
I am sorry for complaining, I had to get that off my chest.
I shall step off my soap box now.

Usually, as in never, I don't have issue's with slower players in groups in front of me. I try to take the attitude that I'm in no rush, just enjoy being out on the the course.

Which brings me to the exception to the rule. We were behind a group a few weeks ago. They were playing from the tips and had some sort of skins game going on from what we could understand standing at the first tee. They were horrible.

Nothing against slow players.
Nothing against bad players.

But combined, AND hitting off the Championship tee's was just outright inconsiderate IMHO. These guys shoulda been hitting from the reds. And because it was a "skins" game, they stood over putts for eons, and missed. When 1 guy hit, the other 3 were next to him, then they all went to next guy's ball, etc etc.

After the 5th hole, when we were 2 groups deep at the tee box and another group putting on 4, our group cut across to 7 and skipped the 6th. We finished our 17 holes and hit the clubhouse. 1 hr later the skins group came in after us. There were comments made from our table as they walked by "man, didn't know hitting off the tips added an hour to the round" and "musta been a high stakes skins if everyone had to watch each other hit" etc.

Anyways, my point was they really had no reason to be hitting off the tips at thier level. I mean we had to wait after every single shot we made. Even on the Par 3's. We'd let them clear the green, hit our shots, putt, then head to the next tee....and they're still teeing off.
