I just got back into golf after many years of being out of it. Actually...almost 10 years!! OUCH! When I got back in...I tried to purchase some decent equipment that would not disappoint me in performance. That way I could not make any excuses. (well...I could..but it would be difficult)

While I was at Golfsmith..looking at a putter, I was gently coerced into buying a Ping Redwood Anser putter to replace my old Ping Pal 6. Yep...this was going to be the MacDaddy putter that would enable me to drain a putt from 60 feet away. Well....I hate it! I push everything right and just do NOT feel comfortable with the darn thing!
I was at a guys shop the other fay that I do a lot of business with, and he had a line-up of old clubs laying up against the wall. Putters, wedges and irons. He is about 65 + in years, so this was quite a collection. I was looking and playing around with them and he said.."If you find one you like go ahead and take it!" I hate taking things for free..but I obliged him in this case cuz' I figured I was desperate to find a putter that I felt good about. Well anyway...I took the putter tonight and played a round at a short municipal course. This darn putter was the most accurate thing I have ever felt or used in a putter!! I was draining 15 foot putts and even one from 30 plus out off the fringe. May have just been a good day...but I am attributing it to this putter! It is a old Cobra Bobby Grace mallet putter. "Fat Lady Swings!" What a deal! FREE!!!
Therefore..the quote..."Some of the best things in this world are free!" holds true this day!! I still feel abused by knowing I spent $250 on a Redwood Ping! Actually, I feel kinda stupid!

I use the updated rerealesed fat lady swings that grace released with macgregor and love it to death. congrats on finding a putter that works.

I was looking at tha tonight on the web. The one I got was a little beat up so I was looking for one that may be in better shape. Has it changed much being made by McGregor? Pretty inexpensive at $50. Feel like I've struck gold though!
