Any thoughts anyone pls ?

Recently changed my irons from Zing2's , which I have had for over 12yrs, and now got Titleist AP2's.
The Zings were 3' upright (white lie ) and the AP's are 2' , which was reccomended when I demo'd them. ProjectX 5.5 shafts.

Now my bad shots have always been a push or an over-draw left, but with these AP's , I seem to be consistently hitting straight right of target.

Only played 3/4 rounds so far, and I love the clubs, so perhaps just getting used to them, or could the 1' lie difference be a factor ?

Or.....should I get my @ss to for a lesson to sort it out ?

In my Bag:
909D2 10.5deg DFX Stiff
WarBird 5 Wood - steel shaft.
Titleist AP2 3-PW
Vokey Spin Milled 54 & 60deg 2 Ball Ball : ProV's.

Well, "straight right" and "push" are in the same ballpark, and so is an overdraw if it is starting right a bit. Sounds like you are dealing with the same issue which is an in/out path with the clubface varying between slightly closed and slightly open to the target. Doubt 1 degree lie angle will have much impact on that. Swing path sounds consistent, so you are doing something with the hands and arms to make the clubface vary.

One word for you - "offset"

The pings have a ton of offset in the face, while the Titleist don't. Need to re-train yourself to square up the clubface at impact. This will account for the face being slightly open at impact, and thus leaving everything out to the right.

Made that switch myself a while back - played eye2's and zings forever - then went to a more traditional style club, and minimal offset.

Short term solutions : Agressivly turn your hands over more, or strengthen your grip - both will eventually turn your shots left, and too much left, but it will be a band-aid initially.

In the Titleist bag on the ClicGear 2.0:

PILOT: Titleist 910 D2 Axivore Tour Red

3 WOOD: Callaway 3-Deep 13*

Hybrid: TaylorMade RBZ 22*

IRONS 3-PW: Mizuno MP-32

WEDGES: Vokey TVD 54* SM5 58*K

PUTTER: Rife 2-Bar Blade

BALL: Penta 5

I totally agree with you on the ST solutions. If that doesn't work and it keeps going right, I also 1) use less hip movement so my hands come through the ball first and my right hand is closed at impact or 2) bring my club back way inside to ensure I get the club on plane.

I found though the grip has a lot to do with it and if your right hand is making a "V" pointing to your shoulders. Also, sometimes I notice the bottom of my club is not laying down flat and the heel is higher than the toe. This gets me going right until I fix it. Who knows with this game...hope it helps
