I went there to hit the i10, i have the s59 but am looking for more forgiveness as i dont play as much as i used too. I then saw the s57 sitting there all pretty and asked if i could hit it. they had x100 in them which is similar to the s300 i play now. As far as head size goes all three s59, i10, and the s57 are all similar. Maybe the s57 being a touch smaller, definately cleaner and best looking of the 3. Definately felt best of the 3. I i10 and s59 and like duplicates, if you were blindfolded it would be hard to tell them apart. The s57 was suprisingly forgiving for how it looks especially at adress. The others may have only been a touch more forgiving. Ball flight was also alittle lower than my 59's. all in all i think they are very nice irons but ping definately screwed up because there really isn't that much difference between i10 and s57. should have stuck with the idea of the i5 especially if you going to have 4 irons out on the market. one of them should be labeled for the midhandicapper. unfortanetly i'm not the best ball striker so there is no point in getting the i10 and the g10 are way too big. i may just find a set of i5(could someone supply feedback on these irons if they have hit them) and put dgs300 in them.

I use i5 orange dot with steel ZZ-65 stiff shafts (see sig.). I also own (and rarely use since I got the i5 set) s59 tour with the same shafts, so I can compare them accross the board.

To me distance control is most important -- being pin high, getting on greens in regulation. I like to know what each club does in a given situation. I find the i5 irons better for my game at getting me very consistent distances. Being designed between the g5 and the s59, it's not suprising that the i5 is a bit more forgiving than the s59. When I miss an s59 the distance suffers. When I miss an i5 I still get close to the expected distance. They are still quite workable. And inspire confidence for any shot at address.
When I pure an s59 there is nothing finer, but I just can't quite hit it on the button EVERY time.
Since my switch to the i5 I have lowered my scores, hit more greens, and I have my distances dialed in. For me the i5 is the best.

Mark Calcavecchia won the 2007 PODS Championship at Innisbrook Resort (Copperhead Course) Tampa Bay, Florida and he won the 2005 Canadian Open with Ping i5 irons (2-P) and Eye2 SW and LW.

Two years from the Candian Open to the PODS and he is still using Ping i5 irons.

    • Day 299: played 18. Hit the ball well, but did not score well. I think I ended up +10, with half of that coming on 2 holes.
    • Day 549, May 4, 2024 After lessons and working with Natalie, hit some balls for awhile. Just backswing stuff. Forgot about the slightly shorter stuff, though I'm sure it was as they were only about 75% speed with brief pauses.

    • Best drive I've ever hit: I will not be answering any questions about the rest of the hole. Or the round, for that matter.
    • I tried hybrids way back when TaylorMade introduced the copper orange Firesole Rescue, the clubhead having been made of titanium which was still relatively new even in drivers back then. I couldn't hit it well at all, and while the success of hybrids suggests that the modern ones must be quite good,  I'm perfectly happy with the 5, 7, and 9-woods.  Early ones of mine were Top Flite Intimidator 400s made by Spalding... and also made of titanium, now that I think of it.  I still have them in my basement. I do bag a driving iron, but it's a one-trick-pony that never sees fairway use.
