that it is time to buy a new driver. Can anyone tell me as I don't know bugger all about modern equipment what the
Titleist 905 S Driver 9.5 Deg drivers are like and what the letter designation means?

Titleist's 905 series is widely regarded as one of the company's best drivers ever (although there is a lot of buzz about the new 909 series.) This is in contrast to the 907 series, which was widely considered a flop. (And I'm one of the many who hated it.)

There were 3 versions in the 905 line: 905R, 905S, 905T.

The 905R was the 460cc driver, while the 905S and 905T are 400cc clubs targeted as a "player's" club.

Here is the Titleist page that compares the 3 versions:

(I linked the photo to other photo comparisons on the Titleist site, so clicky-clicky.)

Thanks for the Info, any idea what a good price would be second hand ??
Good condition Titleist 905 T

PRO Titanium
9.5 degree

*Lamkim mid-size cross line grip in good condition.

*New Wilson Prolite+ Stiff shaft made in the U.S.A by GRAFALLOY.

*Face in good condition, there are no scratches that will decrease the clubs performance. only minor ones that you would exspect in other places from wear that do not effect performance.

*905 T head cover in good condition however one side is slightly worn.

*I would rate overall 7-8/10

This is what I am looking at

can anyone recommend a set of irons maybe 2 -3 seasons ??

Too many to pick from. If you're talking eBay, you can get a set of very good 3-4 yr old irons for under $300. Ping, Calloway, Taylormade RAC, Srixon 506. It all depends if you're looking for a players' iron or something with more forgiveness.

I think, for the price, Pings on Ebay are a great way to pick up quality clubs inexpensively. Callaway's seem to run a lot higher than Pings.

You guys are so lucky with equipment in the USA, over here stuff is much more expensive.

Not if you buy on ebay.

You have to pay a bit more for postage. I bought a 905T, 904f 3 wood and 904f 5 wood, all as new for less than US$200 for the lot 18 months ago. add about $60 for postage to Australia. It's a global market, so take advantage!!!!!! The craziest thing is that clubs sent from the US usually take less time to arrive than ones ordered from Australia!!

I would have to second that. Cleveland golf clubs are super solid, and you can found them for great prices on line.

I am after some players Irons, like I say 2 - 3 seasons old, something that I can use down to a 3 handicap (which I am working really hard towards).

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
