I played a round on Sunday and there were some rain showers throughout the day. I still had a good time but the wet weather wasn't too good on my clubs. I didn't get a chance to wipe them down and clean them until this evening and I found little marks of rust on some of my clubs.

I know steel wool would help but I heard that takes off the chrome? I don't wanna do anymore damage to my MP-33's. I also found a little mark on my Scotty too.

So what's everyone well known and proven ways to get rust off and keep it off as long as I wipe them down every time?

WD40 and a good scrubbing with a plastic bristle brush should do it.

Hmm. Thanks for the tip. So an old toothbrush will do?

Also, any way to prevent this again? Like maybe some sort of protector stuff.

Keeping them clean is the best way. I've got CBs today, going for some sort of blade or cavity next time, the only place a few of my clubs has got some rust is in the cavity back since I need to be thorough to clean in there.

A good reason for not buying CB.

I clean my club after every shot, got a wet towel on the bag to wipe it with. I also take a good cleaning a few times each week at home with running water, a brush and towel.

To rust, your clubs need oxygen, steel and water. Oxygen and steel is hard to keep away from them, the water is where you come in. During a round the club will always get moist, they won't rust in the duration of one or two rounds, but cleaning them on the course is something I advise. When you come home, just wipe over them with a towel to remover water and moist. You've got blades, so they are pretty easy to keep clean and dry . If you played on sunday and didn't touch them until today, that's 4 days, enough for rust to attack.

WD40 should prevent most of the rust from coming back. I get a little bit on the face of my 57s where the chrome has worn through a little bit and sandy range balls have made little cuts. Keep them cleen and dry, and don't use headcovers and you should be ok.
