Taylormade woods, I played Callaway for the last 20 years but found I hit the Taylormade woods straighter and longer and they have a much more apealing sound then all of the other drivers on the market.

Mizuno irons, I like the feel of forged irons and have played forged for 20 years, this is my second set of Mizuno. I was torn between Mizuno and Titleist and found a deal I couldn't pass up on the Mizuno so I stayed with them.

Mizuno wedges, again I like the feel of forged and they play so much like my irons it was a natural fit.

Scotty Cameron putter, I really like the feel of the Cameron putter, I have always played an Anser style putter, I think it best suits my putting style.

Driver: Titleist 907D1, 8.5 degrees, Graffaloy Prolaunch Blue 75x. Like many people did, I passed over this club and went for the D2 at a demo day last year and the rep told me to try the D1 after seeing me hit a few. I hit the D1 straighter, but the D2 longer. The D1 went in the bag with no regrets. It goes 275-300 depending on conditions.

4 Wood: Adams RPM LP Tour Issue, 16 degrees, ProForce V2 Hybrid X-flex. I can hit this 4 wood about 250-265, so why carry anything else?

Hybrids: Adams Idea Pro 20, 23 with Harrison Pro Steel X-Flex. I have the 3 and 4 hybrids, but these go like a 2 iron and 3 iron for me. They are about D8 with the steel shaft and just launch the ball. They have changed the game on par 5s for me. 3Hy goes 235-245, the 4Hy goes 220-230.

Irons: MacGregor MT Pro CM 5-PW, DG x100. The 5 and 6 irons are a cavity back and the 7-PW are muscle backs. They are a great classic forging and feel very solid. I can do anything with these babies, but you have to find the smallish sweetspot!

Wedges: Titleist Vokey Spin-Milled with DG x100. I have the 54, bent to 53 and given a tour grind. The 58 degree is my bunker shot specialist and 100 yard club. The 60 is bent to 62 and tour ground to hit the flops and 75-80 yard shots.

Putter: I rotate several putters based on green speed and condition, but mostly based on my fragile confidence level and mood that day. I have 3 "gamers". A custom shop Scotty Cameron CLN Prototype, a Clay Long and my old standby - Odyssey White Hot #6. I picked up that old Odyssey for $40 in a used putter bin one day and promptly shot 64 the first time I used it, so it will always have a spot in my bag!

Future Wish List:

I'm looking at upgrading the driver to a new Titleist 909 D2 or D3, or the new Adams Speedline. The Adams is very hot. I'm also going to replace my hybrids with the new Adams Idea Pro Gold, and get a few of the Vokey TVD wedges.

NOTE: I noticed after I posted this just how long it is. I have a problem - I have a degree in journalism and once I start writing about something I love it's hard to stop.

The equipment I currently carry are the product of lots of trial and error over the last few years. The only clubs I might consider replacment anytime soon are my irons, driver and 3 wood.

Irons - Cobra S9 (2006 model) - 6I-GW - I bought these back in 2006 (right after they came out and were named the 'Editor's Choice' on Golf Digest's Hot List). At the time I was struggling with hitting irons fat, so I was looking for something with a wider sole. I tried lots of irons and reduced choices to these and the Mizuno MX-900. I decided on these because of price - I ended up getting the S9's for about $400 less. The shafts are the Nippon models in R flex, which I have never been happy with because they are too 'flexy', but the salesperson talked me into them. In some ways I cant' complain because my handicap has dropped about 7+ strokes since I bought them. I have since changed my swing and now these are not really the best clubs for me. I am considering either Mizuno MP-52 or 57.

Driver - TaylorMade R540 XD - I have had this driver since it first came out back in 2003 or 04. It's a 55 gram stiff flex stock shaft with a soft tip. I hit the ball very high with it, but very accurately and still long enough to play comfortable from about 6500 yards without being forced to hit all hybrids/woods into long par 4's. I have owned 4 other drivers since I purchased this, but have always gone back to this old trusted gamer. My average carry is about 230 or a little longer, with very little (if any) roll. I used to think this was costing me a lot of distance, but my experiences with other drivers have taught me that being in fairway at 230 is better than in the rough (or worse) at 250. I can control with driver very well. I would consider new driver only if I find one that has same flight, but longer and more forgiving (although I doubt I'll find it). I'll probably play this until it wears out or breaks.

3 Wood - Mizuno F50 - I bought this about 3 or 4 years ago when it was new and have always been happy with it, although I seldom hit it off turf these days (in part because I seldom need to). I use it a lot off tee as second driver and it's great for that. It has Dynamic Gold R300 steel shaft, because I prefer steel for control. I would consider a replacement if I could find something that I could hit as consistently off the tee, but better off turf. I am considering a 4 Wood to replace this, but I'm in no hurry.

Hybrids - 2H. 4H, 5H - Mizuno Fli-Hi CLK - These are possibly my favorite clubs in the bag at the moment. The 2H replaced my 5W and has DG S300 steel shaft. Like the 3W, I like steel in this because it gives me more control (and this club is often one I am swing very hard, so steel helps me feel more in control). Because of the steel it plays more like a 3H. My 4H and 5H are both graphite Exsar R flex shafts. I've had the 4H since the beginning of last year and added the 5H at the end because I loved the 4H so much and decided to replace my 5i with it. Both clubs are a little longer than the irons they replace(about 1/2 club), but the 5H is easy to 'dial down' so I can hit it similar distance to 5i when I want. I have tried a lot of hybrids before finally settling on these, which are forgiving, while still being easy to control the ball flight.

Wedges - Cleveland CG14 54/12 and Titleist Vokey Spin Milled 58/10 - The Cleveland is a recent replacement for my longtime sandwedge, a Cleveland CG11 with same loft/bounce. I prefer a 54* for my sandwedge because I like the stronger loft, plus my GW is 50*. I like this club better for full swings than my CG11 I previously carried. The Vokey 58 is a club I've had for about a year after I lost my CG11 58. I seldom use it for full swing shots (or my previous lob wedges). I use it for shorter shots in rough or shots that require a higher trajectory and/or less release. I like it out of deep rough around green because it allows me to swing harder without fear of sending ball 20 yards over green.

Putter - Scotty Cameron Futura Phantom (center-shafted) - I had always been a very good putter, especially in regards to line. Suddenly about 18 months ago I was stuggling on getting putts started on line. I was using a 3 Ball and just struggled on getting the putt on correct line. The 3 Ball was a heel shafted model and I'm a square-to-square putter who had always played with a center shafted putter. I started looking for a center shafted model and came across this putter at Golf Galaxy in used putters. It was marked down to $39 and I really liked the alignment aid (3 dots behind shaft that should be hidden though stroke). Suddenly my putts were always started on line (unless I just hit a bad putt). I am stuggling now with distance control and lag putts, but my stroke has improved a lot since I bought this. I am considering changing putters, going back to a center-shafted 2-ball that I played with several years ago and had a lot of success with.

Ball - Bridgestone e7+ - Because I hit all clubs with a very high trajectory, I was really happy to find this ball late last year. It's a lower trajectory ball that is still reasonably priced, but still has a good feel with irons, wedges and putter. It's also among the longest balls I have ever played. During cold weather I play the Wilson Zip, which I think is a very underrated ball. I would prefer to play a premium ball, but refuse to pay $40+/dozen. I really like the Bridgestone B330S and would like the try the B330-RX, but can't justify paying that much when there are a lot of good balls for under $30.

GPS - iGolf NEO - I bought this early last year (after bonus at work) and have loved having it. When I bought it I had a limited budget, so the more expensive models ($400+) were not possible. I love the size of the Neo, not to mention it's simplicity. It's easy to add courses and custom points and all courses I've played so far have been available for download. Plus, membership to service is not required, but is only $35 a year for 100 individual course downloads. The only negatives is that there aren't as many custom points available or possible as other models.

Push Cart - ClicGEAR 2.0 - I have just purchased this after considering it for the last year. I got an unexpected bonus from work and finally decided to buy. I have used an old $20 pull cart for several years and finally got tired of fighting with it. I can't really carry anymore and riding gets expensive as many rounds as I play. I love everything about the ClicGEAR

Bag - Great Divider Tour - I love this bag. I bought it several years ago when I finally realized carrying wasn't really possible anymore and a carry bag is not good on pull or push cart (or even riding cart most of the time). This bag has the full length dividers, which help protect clubs and also help me keep track of my clubs (very easy to notice when club is misisng because I keep them arranged in order and each in own divider). I also love it because of the many big pockets that allow me to store everything I need and keep it orderly and easy to find. Only downside is it's weight

I got my driver because I actually liked the sound of it, and I liked the weighting to help me keep my swing on plane.
I got my 3 wood because I like hitting lower trajectorys, and mine offers that.
I got my 5 wood because I didn't buy it, it was given too me the first time I played.
I got my irons because I wanted some that are a little more workable, but offered some room for error.
I got my wedges because I... I don't know why. Just kinda spur of the moment.
I got my putter because both of my putters were just given to me (TPM, and 2-Ball).
