Well, this weekend my dad and I went up to Seven Oaks in Hamilton, NY. It is Colgate University's golf course, and a rather tough one too. We played the black tees (back) with a Course Rating/Slope of 74.4/144. It was probably the toughest course I've played, but what killed me was the putts. I shot a 96 (24 over :-/) and made like 46 putts. I've seen greens faster than this before, but these greens were fast and they broke a ton. I guess one could say that I was in fact driving for show, but not quite putting dough.
If I could improve my putting, I would be in good shape. No reason I should have made so many three-putts. I missed an 18-inch putt, sadly enough.

Confidence
If you work on the distance control and the pendulum motion below you will gain confidence in your putting that you will feel you can make every putt and can't wait to start putting once you are on the green during your round.

Distance control
equal distance on your backswing as your forward swing or follow through, the longer the putt the longer your forward and backswing distance. Fast greens might cause you to slow your putting tempo, also In your putting stroke there will be a slight acceleration on your forward swing.

Pendulum motion
I recently changed my putting grip so that my hands are very close together on opposite sides, similar to praying in my case with my left hand slight below my right hand and I noticed this has taken my hands out of the putting stroke, I also putt with my shoulder another method to eliminate any hand movement in the putting stroke.

Practice
short putts ranging from 1 to 3 and 5 foots and long putts for distance control and consistency but the key to putting is the practice and more practice, good luck next time.
