I'm still learning my grip and think I basically have it correct. At the driving range, my grip starts off ok but degrades after a couple dozen balls. Would it be a good idea to buy a training grip and use it on a club I play with? Or is it better to avoid them?

I never found them necessary.

Take a week or two at the driving range regripping your club on every swing and I think you'll get it so ironed into your head that you can't screw it up.

I've never used one, so I can't say for sure, but the grip isn't that hard to get right if you just put some time into it. Play around with it in the beginning to find out what suits you best.

When I'm thinking of my grip I just extend my hands against the grip and fold my hands together as normal. That will always be my neutral grip. Don't force your hands into some weird position. Just extend the arms and grip the club.

When setting up, always do your grip routine. Don't hit a ball and just return to your stance to hit another. Take a moment to think about your grip. Keep a light pressure. There are different thoughts to use. You can think of holding a bird. You don't want to crush it by holding too tight, but you don't want to hold too lose either or it will fly away. Or a toothpaste tube, not trying to push something out.
