Hi Sabram

Thank you very much for your very nice compilation of Las Vegas Clubs. Unfortunately I haven't had time yet to look at them in detail but I will do that asap and integrate them in my travel map.

As said above, I intend to post the whole route here later so that other's might use it for their own research.

Regards

I just played the Badlands Golf Course in Las Vegas last week. It was in great shape and a very challenging course. Owned by Troon Golf, Johnny Miller was one of the designers. I would choose that over the TPC only that it was less crowed and less expensive. But both would be a treat.

Hi All

Meanwhile I've been working some more on our route and made a selection of golf courses which I would like to play on our journey. I've decided to skip Vegas golf-wise and stick to the coast area and one course in Palm Springs. We've still not decided which way we're going to drive (clockwise or counter-clockwise) but it might well be that we're coming from Palm Springs along the coast towards San Francisco after visiting the national parks inland.

The courses I've selected are:
  • Mesquite Country Club, Palm Springs
  • Industry Hills Golf Club (Eisenhower Course), Industry Hills
  • Glen Annie Golf Club, Santa Barbara
  • Morro Bay Golf Course, Morro Bay
  • Pacific Grove Golf Links, Pacific Grove
  • The Course at Wente Vinyards, Livermore
  • Harding Park, San Francisco

I have put all the courses you've suggested in a Google Earth File which you can download here: http://www.retozimmermann.com/zed_pi...olfCourses.kmz (Of course you need Google Earth installed to view the file-content)

All courses we're planning to play are selected while all others are in a backup folder. The place-marks have addresses, links to the course websites and sometimes rates.

I hope that some of you might find this collection useful. Thanks to all of you who have provided this content!

Best regards
Reto

Hi All

Very cool. A quick thought. I haven't played he courses in Santa Barbara in a long time but I think you might enjoy Sand Piper more than Glenn Annie. While Glenn Annie has a great view of the coast and town it is A LOT of up and down. Sand Piper is flatter and is the "Pebble Beach" of Santa Barbara.

Please let us know your schedule when you figure it out. I'm about 10 minutes from Wente but have never played there. If you are looking for some company that day I'd be happy to try and get some time off join you.

Hi

Thank you for the additional pointers. I'll happily contact you when I know more. Why don't you drop me your details in a PM. I'd like to play with a local Regards Reto

    • Interesting changes. The idea of relegation and promotion have always been there in a different form (getting and losing your card etc and qualifying for bigger events) but it looks like they want to define it better for top tier events. The Tour has always had A and B level events (and even lower). It will be interesting what they choose as the Challenger Series events and whether some tournaments go to the Challenger Series that used to be prestigious. Not sure how the networks will take to this knowing they have “Challenger” Series events defined that way now. Also, I’m not happy that John Henry and Theo Epstein are involved. Look what Henry has done to the Red Sox.

    • I have been debating getting a launch monitor of some sort, if only so I can re-figure my shot zones (I haven't actually mapped them in years) and also to practice distance wedges at home.  I have to see if this works with either my current setup, or what my setup would be if I move it to the garage.
    • Day 48, June 23.  After work today, I took 25 minutes in my practice room;  6-iron, same everything as yesterday except the time and count.
    • Well, this is interesting.  I think we discovered a few months ago that I haven't been following professional golf in a while (my confusion about Scotty's footwork confirmed that), so at least as I aim to follow a bit more I'll get something new to learn with all of you.  My very quick read of Erik's summary makes me think this new Challenger series fits somewhere between Korn Ferry and the Championship (not Champions, but I know I'm going to make that mistake a few times if I'm not careful!).   My recollection is that there were already second-tier events among the PGA Tour;  the Bob Hope didn't have the same quality of field as the event at Riviera (whose current name I forget, although now that I say that, I realize the Palm Springs event hasn't been called the Bob Hope in a few years either).   With the absence of the FedEx (if I'm reading that correctly), does that mean no more FedEx Cup at all? Hopefully I'll have time later in 2026 to sit down and see what we're in for in 2027, where one of my goals already is to follow more professional golf.
