These are the two drivers that I use the most often when playing ( I have the XLS sitting in the closest). Both drivers are very similar, and have similar specs. I'm curious as to which of you guys would chose one of these over the other. I just had the r7 re shafted so I'm excited to see if it'll make a difference.

I personally would play the 905 because it has a nice feel to it and I am a titleist fan.

Yeah it's weird, I want to like the 905 more, but I don't hit it well on the course. On the range I've hit it really well though. Since I just made the investment in reshafting/gripping the r7 it's going to be in the bag for now I think.

I voted for the 905. I know two kids who have it, and I've hit it before and I just love the feel of them. I'm actually thinking of getting either the 905r, the 907d1, or (if they get cheaper by the end of this spring) the 909d2.

Yeah it has a nice feel to it, and a nice sound to IMO, especially compared to my XLS...

Yea, I really like the 905, but you can't go wrong with a Taylormade driver either. I think the 905R is one of the better drivers titleist has ever made. A lot of tour pros still play it even thogh titleist has come out with two new models since.

i voted for the r7 quad, i guess because that what i use and my buddy hits with the 905 r and ive hit it before and for some reason i just dont like the way it feels.

I would take both clubs to the local golf store and test out a competitive driver along with your r7 quad and 905r and see what looks the best on paper with the launch monitor then double check it at the driving range.

    • Day 19 - 2026-01-08 10 minutes of net work. Feeling very good about changes but need to film soon. Next few days will be indoor mirror work as we head into the mountains.
    • Day 6: 2026.01.09 Some swing work in the mirror. Need to work on home setup to be able to get more out of evenings where I can't make it to the range.
    • I would like to amend my original comment on the new Maxfli irons. Yes, $800 for forged irons is a pretty good price and they do feel good BUT...I have since found out that $800 is only for off the shelf, standard issue clubs with standard lengths, lofts, lies and shafts. Any change made from stock results in huge up-charges so that the final price ends up pretty much the same as similar forged irons from any of the major manufacturers.
    • These were almost all included on the list of Clarifications or revised Model Local Rules released just a few days ago.  I'm pretty sure the first 3 are brand new MLRs (Moved/Wrong Place, Embedded Ball in someone else's pitch mark, Internal OB applies only to tee shot) that the PGA Tour is choosing to use.  The 16.1 Rule (relief near a Putting Green) was revised allowed a Committee to give relief for more than just Immoveable Obstructions, microphone holes would be classed as GUR (a hole made by the maintenance staff).  The replacement club rule was available before, the E-3 (Lift Clean and Place distance) could have been defined as "one scorecard" before, they're just a change in how the PGA choices. Here are the January 1 Clarifications and revised MLRs https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/rules-hub/clarifications-of-the-rules-of-golf.html#cp
