I'm looking to buy 2 hybrid clubs, one to replace my 3 iron and one to replace my 3 or 5 wood... I only want to spend $80 total for the 2 clubs. I was thinking of getting a TM Rescue Mid 2 16° or Nike Slingshot Tour 2 Hybrid/Utility 18° to replace my 3 and 4 irons... I'm not too sure about clubs to replace my woods though... Any suggestions on my tight budget limit?

The reason is because I find it fairly difficult to hit with the 3 and 4 iron, I had a really cheap catalyst hybrid i used to replace these. As for the 3 and 5, I am pretty inconsistent with these clubs and I figure a hybrid would help.

18* is more like a 2 iron replacement, you might want to go for a 21-23* hybrid for that. I recently replaced my 3 wood with a 16* hybrid. I do lose some distance but 250 yds in the trees is no good for anyone, 225 yds on the fairway is sooo much better for my score card. I would recommend the cleveland hibore, they are plentiful on ebay.

If you had to choose between those too I would go with the rescue mid. I would also suggest you maybe consider spending a little more on these clubs, becuase the older model hybrids were very inconsistant.

Thanks for your input. I was thinking of maybe just buying one club for $80 instead of two for $40 each, if I were to do that what club would you recommend? I basically want to use it in place of using a 3 iron or 3 wood. I don't mind buying used.

I was thinking maybe something with a 19 or 20 loft.

I have the Rescue Mid 3 and 4. They are about 10 yards longer than their named conventional iron counterparts. So, a 4 may serve as your conventional 3 iron and you can choke down to get the 4 iron distance. I have seen them on sale for 80-90 dollars. Used ones in places like Play it Again Sports sell them for about 30-50 dollars.

Ive got a HALO 2i (19°) and its my fav club in the bag, a bit of distance loss from my old 3 wood but much more accurate, they go for about $50 - 60 give one a try.

A 2 hybrid but 5 woods are a lot easier to hit.

    • Day 22: mirror work for a while. Working on my elbow in the downswing - keeping it in a better position.
    • Day 36 (16 Dec 25) - continued the exaggerated left foot weight shift trigger adding some easy low flighted pitches with the 5h and a few putting style bump and runs with the 5h as well.
    • Day 442 - 2025-12-16 Got some swings in at an indoor academy a little south of Erie.
    • Has anyone played the new Maxfli forged irons? For the first time in I don't know how many years, they have come out with new clubs. From what I read, Maxfli was bought by Taylor Made a long time ago which then took all of their ball making technology and patents in order to get into that market. The club business was left to whither and the reorganized company, now a part of Dicks / Golfworks / Maltby, is producing these new clubs. (Their Tour X balls which I play are really good.) Anyway, I tried them both out at Golf Galaxy. There's a player's distance iron (XC-3) and a blade (XC-2) and both feel really, really nice, almost "Mizuno-like" in their soft buttery feel and they're a bargain at $800 for a set. I'm planning to ditch my Titleist's and want to go back to a forged iron. I almost pulled the trigger on the Mizuno Pro-245's last summer, but a damaged tendon sheath in my finger combined with a back injury messed up my golf game so I held off. Now the Pro-245's are no longer available, soon to be replaced by the MX-15. (At twice the price of the Maxfli's...that's what got my attention in the first place.) If anyone has played with the new Maxfli's or just tried them out like I did, let me know what you think.
    • Day 126 12-16 Back swing and rotation work today. Didn't hit any balls. Focusing on rotating and getting to lead side.
