I had the same problem my last round of golf, I am not sure if I lost my focus, was tired, bad technique or all the above.

My irons and drivers were ok but my chipping but terrible.

In Hawaii I shot 36, 44 at Kapalua Bay Course, then 44, 36 at Ka'anapali Royal. Back to back good-to-bad, bad-to-good rounds of 80...

I am normally almost annoyingly consistent, almost always with front and back nine scores being 1 or 2 stroke different. However couple weeks ago I played a course I had never played with 2 people who I had never played with before. Front nine I was +1 (and that was because of 3 putting #9).Back nine was a different story as I shot +10 (with a birdie).

One thing I found a few years ago is if I add my score up after front nine, I start thinking about that on the back nine and what I need to shoot a certain score. These days I try to never add up scores until I'm done with my round. The crazy round I had, one of my playing partners added it up and told me what I shot at the turn, so I blame him - it couldn't possibly be my fault.

i had probably the most absurd round of my life earlier this week. i played the front nine and came off 3 over par. i hadn't had a single bad shot, save for one pushed drive. i get to the back nine, start off with another par on ten, and after that...

man. after that.

*hangs head*

end result (par is 72 - 36/36) was 39/49 for an 88. i racked up 13 strokes over par in the span of 8 holes. bloody terrible, and i still have no idea what happened. one minute i was hitting the ball totally pure, and the next... push fades and duck hooks.

Mizuno is introducing new technology with their JPX One fairway woods and drivers. The new tech for golf but used tech for Mizuno since it is found in their baseball side of the business, is Nanoalloy. Nanoalloy is a microscopic polymer layer put on the face of their titanium driver. What this layer does is change the elasticity of the driver face and increases ball speed over a larger area of the clubface. Adding a bit more elasticity with this layer, they are conserving the golf balls energy from the impact.  Due to USGA rules, this technology falls under their coating regulations. Which add a correction factor to the ball speed testing done for conforming golf clubs. This rule was introduced when Taylormade went to their carbon clubface. Which I didn't know existed.  I am sure that center strikes are at the USGA limits like all other drivers. This has my interest. I am always, "window shopping", for new golf equipment 😉
