77 on a par 71 (68.8/115). As you can see, its not a overly tough course and I didn't even take my driver out of the bag - which may have been why I shot so well.

I shot -2 (34 on par 36) on the front nine with three birdies and one bogey. The back 9 was filled with mental errors.

82 for me on multiple occaisons. I was playing really good in mid-summer and got down to an index of 10.9, but couldn't get lower than 82. I had 13 of 15 rounds below 90 at one point this year, which was a significant accomplishment for me. I am going in the wrong direction now as I am getting extremely inconsistent and back up to 12.4.

Good to read about everyone's low scores. My best was a 67 (-5) on one of my last rounds before winter. First bogey of the round was on 17, but then I got up and down from a greenside bunker on par 5 #18 for birdie.

Just posted a 78 today w/a 36 (+1) on the back 9 (although the course is only 68.1/108). It was wonderful. One of those stretches where I felt like I was hitting every shot well. My low before today was an 83. Although I know I probably won't get another 78 soon, I'm just going to go out and focus on hitting good shots...hopefully the scores will fall into place.

What I play:

Woods: Tour XPC 16* Graffaloy ProLite (S)

My best round was an 80 at my regular course playing from the tips (73.9/129, 7066 yds). Frustrating thing was I only hit three bad shots which ended up as three doubles. I had a couple of 79s at another course but I was playing the regular tees so I don't really count those. The 80 was the best and most complete round of golf I played all year.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Lowest for me was an 86 at Rocky Branch GC...now renamed Golf De L (sorry...just can't call it that).

Lowest round for me on my home course has been 89. Shot it three times in the last two months.

Handicap at last score entry was 17.5.

Now for the real telling.....my highest score is off the charts ugly...and shot more often than my lowest. Been working on a lot of aspects of the game since starting back playing. '08 has been an eventful year on the links....so glad to be playing again.....can't remember why I ever stopped!

My lowest so far has been a 102. That score was the second 18 of a 36 hole day, with the first 18 of the day coming in at 106, so I am steadily improving!

Horrible, but then again I just started again this year after a 10+ year hiatus and had to deal with a hernia over the summer which killed most of the season for me.

    • Day 299: played 18. Hit the ball well, but did not score well. I think I ended up +10, with half of that coming on 2 holes.
    • Day 549, May 4, 2024 After lessons and working with Natalie, hit some balls for awhile. Just backswing stuff. Forgot about the slightly shorter stuff, though I'm sure it was as they were only about 75% speed with brief pauses.

    • Best drive I've ever hit: I will not be answering any questions about the rest of the hole. Or the round, for that matter.
    • I tried hybrids way back when TaylorMade introduced the copper orange Firesole Rescue, the clubhead having been made of titanium which was still relatively new even in drivers back then. I couldn't hit it well at all, and while the success of hybrids suggests that the modern ones must be quite good,  I'm perfectly happy with the 5, 7, and 9-woods.  Early ones of mine were Top Flite Intimidator 400s made by Spalding... and also made of titanium, now that I think of it.  I still have them in my basement. I do bag a driving iron, but it's a one-trick-pony that never sees fairway use.
